Almost 4 years later, City Manager O'Brien could literally submit the same exact lettet that City Manager Hoover did on January 28, 2003, but just change the name on the bottome. It really is sad that nothing has changed, except the annual losses which are rising.
Councilors:
Yesterday, Congressman McGovern and I met with Massport and others to begin discussions on the future of Worcester Regional Airport in light of the news that commercial passenger sevrice will not be available with USAir Express eliminating uts three daily flights. The City is assisting Massport in a review of the short-term options available to address the immediate circumstances caused by the USAir annoucements. Congressman McGovener along with Senators Kennedy and Kerry, Massport and i will be arranging a meeting of all interested parties to consider the long-term options for the aiporrt. While no option should be excluded, it was clear to all of us who met yesterday that a healthy Airport is an asset to the community and essential to our economic growth and vitality and that we must continue our efforts, in partnership with Massport and the Fedeal Authorities, to work to make Worcester Regional Airport fulfill its role in providing transportatin service to this area. I will provide Council with reports on the short-term activities taken and the details of the plans for the long-term meeting wheb available.
Respectfully submits,
Thomas Hoover

If that was a letter from the City Manager with the spelling mistakes I saw in it, no wonder he is no longer here -and no wonder airlines are not coming!!!
CommutAir is a turboprop plane. That is a long ride to Baltimore when there is a lot of service on jets from other locations. I flew Allegiant (and sent a lot of people up there to use it) and it was great service on a jet. That's what people want. However, Worcester was more convenient as far as getting to the airport, how early you have to get there,a lot less expensive to park and a very friendly airport because it was small, so maybe people will look seriously at it even though it is Turboprop.
Typo's were mine--sorry, not City Manager Hoover.
Good news concerning fuel prices. Looks like Jet fuel went down .42 cents today and is actually lower than Hanscom. Great news and selling point for aircraft utilizing Worcester. Unfortunately looks like 100ll stayed the same
Dave:
This may be a stupid question, could the release of the RFP for an FBO have prompted the current FBO to lower their prices to scare off potential bidders???
