Rumor has it to Marlboro, not Worcester.

Do you know which "National Italian Restaurant" is going into the old TiNovo @ GAR hall? Please tell me the Worcester cheerleaders aren't getting worked up about a possible Olive Garden coming to town. 'Bobby Bacala' from the Sopranos best described the Olive Garden as for "Wonder Bread WOPs" on a Conan O' Brian interview...

As the editorial writer in todays T&G said ......no busineseses will be coming here anytime soon, if all we do is continue to build low incoming housing that cramps onto small lots 10x the number of housing units that are allowed there by zoning.

This is disinvestment in the city as the property taxes these housing units generate come no where near what is needed to even support the add'l burden on schools....never mind all the other related issues that always seeem to accompany low income housing.

Keep taking the Washington money.........its a drug that will eventually end up putting the city in re-hab......financial re-hab.....therre s/b an immediate moratorium on all low income housing......esp given the current state of the housing market.

Time to rein in these CDC's (Community Dev Corps ...a.k.a. Comm Destruction Corps) and cull their numbers as well.....as well as their bloated bureacracies......Christ almighty what is the logic in spending $600,000 of gov't money to re-hab a 3 decker and then turn around and sell it for $175,000

To those who are enamored with providing low income housing.....i say......start your own business and put up your own money

The more I read todays paper......the more po'ed I get......

the Council passing laws re strip joints that they know are illegal....and then If you read between the lines they try to make it look like the law dept screwed up.......ya right......... we all know the law dept advised them they were over stepping their bounds and what the hell are they doing anyway placing strip joint zoning downtown....put it out on Rte 20 where it belongs

Then we have the Greenhill Parkies saying the city aint lived up to their obligations.....and the manager says that money is part of the problem......yet we wizz away how much money on the airport every year?.......well I guess come Feb 1st I'll use the same excuse for my property taxes........

I love it when Jahn rants!!

Don't forget $2,300,000 for the Way Farer signs and let us not forget the skating rink on the Commons. No, it is not dead--it is ALIVE.

All of these things like Skating Rinks on the Common, Pocket Parks like Winslow Street, Way Farer Signs and what exactly did uncovering Beaver Brook do for the City of Worcester and its citizens.

If we were rolling in cash then I would say "yes" to all of these things and even throw in a Sky Bridge, but we are definately not rolling in cash. All of these "feel good" projects need to stop.

As re: what the Beaver Brook opening did for us..................I guess one might also ask what the Blackstone Canal opening (Canal District) will do for us.......or for certain individuals????

IMO this Canal is a done deal....How much did mc Govern send us just for a study? $750,000??........its just a question of time. My god we cant care for a 10,000 ft park in front of the Fed'l Building and now we want to build another park...that will prb be funded with Washington Money...........only to leave the city taxpayers holding the proverbial bag once again........

The Town Of Randolph will be in receivership soon...........Worc will be the next an dwill be dubbed:

A City On The Rocks (Blackstones)

If it IS the Olive Garden, then they don't know what they are in for !!! The good 'ol Worcester Spag's Mentality will be on full display for their viewing! All you can eat salad and bread sticks? Can you see it now? A family of 6 will show up when they open for dinner, park their butts for close to 4 hours at a table and order 6 All you can eat Salads and Bread sticks and 6 waters! I would love to see the tip they would leave!

I give them 3 months... TOPS!

Now if it was a Ruth's Chris Steak House going in there, you know ...steaks cooked in BUTTER ...then they would get some hardcore customers such as myself AND you would have downtown economic spinoff i.e. the cardiac ward at St V's ...

Does it sound like I'm under the influence of Jahn ?!?!?!?!?

I was once told you can get all the pasta you want to eat at OG and the guy who told me ...also said that when he ordered more pasta the waitress said it would be awhile b/c she has to put the order in........huh?

Maybe we should make a list of all the growth industries in worc?

1. Low income housing
2. Take out Chinese.
3. Nail Saloons
4. Canals
5. Demolition contractors
6. Social Serv's non profits
7. pawn shops
8. Check cashing outlets
9. ????
10. ????

Seriously, take a look at the type of businesses that have opened here in the last 15 or 20 yrs........do they speak to middle income or lower income population growth?

The city needs a vibrant middle class to draw business back into the city & I just dont see it happening & there is no way in hell we'll ever have a vibrant downtown b/c wimmen aint going shopping anywhere near where a bunch of vagabonds are chillin' an d wimmen make the vast majority of purchasing decision...a.k.a. Shopping
