MassPort Mission

http://www.massport.com/about/about_whowe.html

"Massport's Mission Massport’s mission is to enhance and enable economic growth and vitality for the benefit of our stakeholders through public service leadership in the operation of world-class transportation facilities. By defining our mission in this manner, we declare our reason for being and acknowledge the unique impact we have on New England’s standard of living. "

Section 4 of the MassPort Enabling Act specifically authorizes MassPort to purchase any land, property rights, rigths of way, franchises, easements and other interests in lands, as it nay deem expedient, necessary or convenient for the construction or operation of any project at reasonable price and terms. "project" refers to the Tobin Bridge, the airport properties (Hanscon/Boston), the port properties, or any additional facility, including a trade and transportation center, financed or acquired under the Act.

Seems to me that the outright sale of ORH would help meet the MassPort mission and the Enabling Act sure gives them the power to do so. Sell ORH.

Sure it's ok to sell ORH, but make sure you get maximum $$$$$ for it. How would you do that? Simple, instead of just letting Massport run ORH into the ground, create a little buzz, or at least some interested parties in the bidding process. You know the Chamber of Commerce business expo that occurs in the fall every year at the DCU Center? Invite any of the following CEO's to come give a keynote address on the airline business and how to improve ORH: Herb Kelleher/Southwest Airlines CEO, Don Carty/Virgin America CEO , Stelios/EasyJet CEO (European discount airline looking to make US inroads); here is his contact info: To apply for Stelios to speak at your event, please email: engagements@easyGroup.co.uk. This way if you have some major players who are not under the thumb of Massport you a) make them aware of ORH b) possibly get them interested in ORH c) drive up the price so Massport doesn't buy ORH for a song.

What do you guys think?

We can use the monies from the DOT grant to pay for a big speaker like this under the auspices that a sale of the airport would bring air service. Great suggestion Harry...

My wife read about a guy in Brazil --do not remember that name--who reminded me of Stelios. Hey, why not invite Stelios to the Greek Festival??

Great suggestion Harry!!!
