CSX

I truly believe a great deal of the future success lies in commuter rail service. If we had steady consistent fast service to Boston, it would make a huge difference to Worcester and make projects like City Square a reality.

That said much of the dicussion that I have heard on the radio and read in the newspaper concerns me. In the end private property rights is the basis of capitalism and can not be overlooked.

We should negotiate with CSX but talk of class action lawsuits or eminent domain do not seem fair in this case. CSX owns this section of rail and it is there right to sell or not sell their own property.

Like the great and wise prophet, NostraTembenis has prophesized on many occassions "If you have hourly train service to and from Boston , watch the property values in Worcester skyrocket; no other project can impact the finances of this city and the taxpayers in this city the way hourly train service from 05:00am until Midnight can..."

you have said this numerous times and I could not agree more. The way we are treating CSX is not business friendly.

I am a wee bit dismayed at the rhetoric coming from our leaders on this issue myself..threatening eminent domain unless one plays ball is scary

Pualie you want to see somethign even more scarey look at the Kelo eminent donamin case down in New London Ct........I think i read somewhere that they actually moved thast womans (Kelo?) house for her to a new location..........

Next thing that you know the Green hillpark abutters will want their houses taken b/c the city has caused them to lose value by issing a liqour license at GH

BTW i also think 290 even took a very small slice of GH park and truncated one of the roads leading to the clubhouse. BTW years ago there were also regular card games at the club house up there.esp on Sunday afternoon.............( money was never seen changing hands !)

Also years ago Lincoln CC ( where Lincoln village now sits hada litte clubhouse where the booze always flowed very freely.......and they never ha d a license.......folks from all walks of life used to drink there as part of their 9 hole round of golf as well as before and after the golf at the littel 1000 sq ft brick clubhouse
