So this morning I bring the Jahnmobile to beautiful Downtown Worc. It does look nice.

SO I am scoping out a parking space in front of T&G/Bay State Bank. I start scratching my head. At one end (east end) of the curbside parking there is a handicapped sign with an arrow pointing in both directions. So I look back (westbound toward Main St) and there is no sign to indicate where the HC'ed parking area ends. So I park the Jahnmobile & get out and walk towrds Mains St and all I see is a clearly marked 15 min. parking area for 2 cahs, both spaces occupied. Walk back to my car and see one parking meter (occupied) and 3 parking meter "stumps", truncated at the sidewalk level.

So i back up to one of the truncated P. Meter stumps (we got the beetle downtown, too?) and park, exit my car, and head over Worc Center Registry Deeds (RD) office which is clearly marked with a huge sign on the old Mechanic Banks/Filenes building. I get under the sign and there is a small sign on the door directing me to my right to Bk Amer.

I walk into Bnak America building and look at the listing of offices on the lobby wall. No mention of any RD's. I walk out and head out to what used to be the main entrance to Worc Center(where CVS used to be). The Sign in those doors says closed. I head back to Bank Amer building..check the lobby listing again for a RD's listings. None there. Then I see a securtiy guard sitting behind a huge upright. I ask him where's RD's. He says up the escalator. NO signage anywhere near escalator rither. I said OK fine but ya know it's not listed on the lobby sign. A minor language barrier may have caused him to not understand what I was saying. Up the escalator I go.

SO head back out across Front St and the brick crosswalk (like they wanna put in the Banal District??) has 2 decent sized holes in it where it appears teh bricks were possibly missing from a snow plow hit as the pavement surface is not properly aligned with the brick walkway surface. Great place for the WFD to be peeling Grannie up off the street when she takes a header in one of the walkway craters and then has to be transported first to Worc's new Death Panel Branch Office b4 she can be taken to the hospital.

So I head across the common adn think to myself, I gotta check out the new rink more closely. Only ones on the Common at this hour look to me like 2 guys who just came from the union hall only to find there is no work today.

I look at the rink surface and see 2-3 good sized puddles on what I think is a concrete surface. We aint had rain in almost 4+ days and there are still puddles there after 4+ days...unless some one turned on a sprinkler recently to water the rink (which makes no sense)?????. And of course the puddles have leaves and other small debris in them. S/b no puddles on a newly built rink...so who signed off on that? So all summer long there will puddling there every time it rains? If that was private property they could be cited under the bnuisance ordinace for creating a standing water nuisance. Did we have a PLA on that job??

I Get back to the Jahnmobile and no parking tix.......I breathe a sigh of relieve. At the lights a car ahead of me Has bumper stickers "Dismas Family". I chuckle and head off to the inspection station to ante up my annual $29. I laff to myself as I see brand new cars with dealer plates on them inline to get inspection stickers and I think is this really necessary. In Ct. I think you can go 5 yrs before you have to get an inspection unless the car is clealry damaged.

I exit the gas station, I have no time to wait...and I am thinking to myself how I had earlier just heard Stotlz(?) on radio talkign about todays Womag and how they had sent a cub reporter out to "cover" the Commmon for the day......and how the general feeling was overall positive towards the common. Yes it is a nice setting.......but Pip'ers & PINS can ruin it.

AM I being too nick picky??
