To date we have had three blog interviews:
- Bob O'Brien, Airport Director at Rockford
- Jahn, he needs no introduction
- Tom Bona, writer on Rockford at the Rockford Register
I will let you guys, and girls, decide. Potential questions welcome.

Like that's ever gonna happen!
He is not going to help. It should be someone who will give some solid answers like the manager.
Question Idea:
Re: Mr Waldron & Mr Niddie............Who, what, where, when, how, why, how come, how much, etc
Womag reports that Wyman Gordon Honchos are ignoring the city manangers attempts to have a pow wow about WG's old site.
Didnt Wyman Gordon have plans to sell that parcel a few years back to a deveopler, but city council didnt want the type of business that was proposed there.......a supermarket/retail maybe??.......and they may have needed a zoning change and council wouldnt go for it....do I have my facts right???
So if i was WG, I too would tell the Council & to a lesser extent the CM to go take along walk on a short pier....dont call me, I'll call you
Same thing happened with old Berwick Furniture building at MAin & Madison.......they wanted a Mickey D's there but City wouldnt let it happen....so now we're going to get over dev'ed, overly intensive land use, low income ( or penniless artists apts there instead with too little parking....and Mickey D's will now instead end up at the site of the old General Automotive Parts store or the Old Economy Paint/Prime Mortg building at Kelley Sq??.....unless the Banal District folks get in their way. S/b a convenient place for the Hanover Theatre clientele to stop for quickie drive thru on their way back to metrowest burbs???
Jahn hits it on the head. WG knows they are up against the D team. The foolishness continues as the city continues to not just stall but to go nowhere. The mayor has set absolutely no agenda and we will continue to drift towards Springfieldhood. The manager is also becoming increasingly irrelevant. In this form of govt. there has to be a powerful person(s)on the council to push the mgr.
Anonymous, w/o regard to who is holding the office, the mayor in Worc is meant to:
a. attend weddings, wakes & funerals
b. award medals to fallen heroes
c. pin prizes on pretty babies
d. cut ribbons &
e. chair the council & school comm
Just b/c Levy, Mariano, & Murray used it as bully pulpit doesnt nec. make it so or the correct way to accomplish things around town.
The manager is the chief executive officer & the problem is that the collective council always gets in his face.
I hardly think CMOB needs anyone to push him, even though I dont always agree with his agenda and agree even less with the councils overly political agenda. As an example I cite the ridiculous back & forth on retirees health insurance last summer and fall that went on for 6 freaking months. We even had one coucillor reduced to tears. The citys board of director members should step down permanently if any one of them has to openly weep over saving the customers (taxpayers) money of Worcester.
Regarding the above mentioned WG site, the council screwed it up a few years ago now the manager has to go with hat in hand to WG with his tail between his legs.
So why are we so concerned with WG site....Canal District????...MMMMM
What about City Sq, the old Bancroft Motors, The Paris Cinema, umpteeen empty store fronts on Main St?? Let's not bite off more than we can chew at one time and lets get the city hall area & central (non?) business district under control b4 we go knocking on WG door. Yes the site is an eyesore.......but it's the council fault.....not CMOB......Maybe we should take it by eminent domain and hand it over to the city planners whose only answer to all city planning is to build more low income housing.
Maybe you should get M. Bolton, the civilian aviation director for Westover Metro Airport, to do an interview.
Ask him what he's doing and how to replicate it at ORH.
Worc. Fiscal Foolishness:
a. Per T&G & Per Mr Moylan, last winter (06-07) was mild.
b. City budgeted $1.5M for winter 06-07.
c. Actual expense for 06-07 MILD WINTER was $2.0M.
d. So after a MILD 06-07 winter that costs $2.0M the city budgets only $1.8M for winter 07-08.
Does anyone wonder why we're on the edge of being Springfield'ed or Chelsea'ed?
Just an aside, but as I mentioned here before, the expense of city equipment and labor is NOT NOT NOT factored into the snow budget.
WHAT'S up with our beancounters...how can this be? My Middle School General Business teacher used to tell us this is not how to do business.
Jahn you should run for office. You have excellent horse sense and would be a asset to Worcester in general.
Time to step up to the plate . We the working class of Worcester need people like you .
Time for A Change
Anonymous, problem is I would never get elected b/c
1. I am not beholden to City labor interests.
2. The working Midlle class people who might elect me have long since left town.
3. I cannot cry on que when budgets mean hard decisions.
4. Constant Useless resolutions might cause me to lose my temper.
5. A green city to me means a financially solid city and not nec. more Christmas trees chopped down every December and hauled over city streets to city hall and in the process blocking my egress to the hospital which egreess is req'd daily after I read the T&G and start having my palpitations
