Message from Gary Rosen

Press Conference: Fireworks at City Hall

Since the departure of former Mayor Tim Murray 2 1/2 years ago, the City of Worcester has lacked an effective political leader. The present Mayor is right in that her job involves chairing both the City Council and School Committee meetings and making public appearances with proclamations and keys to the city in hand. However, for the good of our residents, home and business owners/taxpayers, school and college students, and community agencies, among many others, I know that a change in the occupant of the Mayor's Office will be needed after three years of non-inspirational and disengaged leadership by our current Mayor.

By this e-mail, I am letting you know that on Wednesday, July 1, at 4:15 PM, on the 2nd floor of City Hall, I will be holding a press conference to discuss how important the position of Mayor needs to be for Worcester to become a city with better administered schools, safer neighborhoods, thriving businesses, and better jobs for residents. Worcesterites should be encouraged to speak up, their voices need to be heard, so they enthusiastically will roll up their sleeves and work with their elected and appointed officials, their neighbors and others, to make Worcester not just the second largest city in New England, but the best city in New England.

Please join me at my Press Conference on Wednesday, July 1, at 4:15 PM to hear my concerns, vision and plans for Worcester's future. Thank you very much!

Gary Rosen
Worcester City Council-At-Large

Sorry Gary, but the mayors job is to chair the council & school committee meetings. As a councillor your job is to legislate and set policy.

Please stay out of other city business, lest you be deemed in violation of the city charter. Frankly, you shouldnt even be communicating directly with other city depts and/or employees. You're on teh citys board of directors & should not be getting involved in other city minutae and/or daily ooperations of the city as a corporate entity.

Please adhere to the city charter. MYOB or your car might get "mistakenly" towed from your driveway (just kidding) and kudos for gettign that snow shoveling done timely after being tardy 1 or 2 times last winter.

Mayor Lukes is doing a good job. She does a good job of staying away from issues that have nothing to do with being mayor or councillor and then you and your associates claim she isnt doing her job or doing it incorrectly.

Levy, Mariano & Murray all overstepped their bounds as past mayors. Levy almost got slammed with a "Suit of 10 taxpayers" for trying to tell Mulford how to manage the city.

How about filing some orders and settign some policy that actually involve real issues facing the city. E.g.

a. Update on police payrollgate

b. Why do 1st responders sleep all night while city is left in an unsafe condition with miles of unshovele sidewalks

c. 1/2 Billion $$$ unfunded pension liabity? HOw will city fund this?

d. Do we really have 600 city employees out OID? Wuz up w/that?

e. A report on Out of control over deve'ment of low income housing and its implications for the citys future. A moratorium?

f. How many more years is it going to take before the city condemns the salt shed at Clark & E Mtn. Sts?

Thanx Gary. I know you read thsi blog. Please respond with any orders you'll file applicable to the above items.

Please be careful when standing in the middle of the citys major intersections. Who do you think you are a Littel Leaguer or a Firefighter :)

I'll vote for Gary. He's the only one who says what he means and means what he says.
