A discount airline is pulling out of the Oklahoma City market. Allegiant Air made its last flight out of Will Rogers World Airport today. It's citing rising fuel prices and lack of passengers for its decision.
The Las Vegas-based carrier first flew out of Oklahoma City in October 2004 and at its peak had 2,570 passengers a month on its one-way flights to Las Vegas. But a spokeswoman for the airline says its passenger numbers in Oklahoma City were consistently at the bottom of its system.

Any work on what their load factors were?
I wonder how low they need to go before they discontinue service.
They try to make 15% profit on their loads.. So you need to maintain around 75% loads for solid routes according to Allegiant.
Rockford has had over 90% loads on their Orlando and Vegas routes which are third of all destinations, including SFB and LAS, for the Allegiant network.
Tyri Squyres said this today of Youngstown's Routes: “Certainly if Allegiant comes out with an April special we’re going to pump that up,” Rubenstein said. The public service announcements will encourage people use the regional airport without specifically mentioning Allegiant.
Allegiant spokeswoman Tyri Squyres said Wednesday that tickets sales for Youngstown-Warren continue to be “very strong,” with bookings into December.
“It’s one of our top booking markets for the summer,” she said. “We certainly have to be pleased with that and the community has really responded to the low fares and the convenience of being able to fly in their own back yard without the hassle and wait for a large airport. Convenience and value are definitely important to the Youngstown-Warren area.”
