Interesting article. "Allegiant is not a fly-by-night". Anybody can play Monday morning quarterback, but losing Allegiant seems huge now. Bob Obrien and Mr. Dunn seem like true leaders .
No question, Bob & Mike Dunn ARE solid leaders. We are fortunate to have them.
While charters for starters carriers risk (what doesn't in the airline industry these days) I applaud the effort. Ideally, the goal would be to have success with the charters thereby getting a regular carrier to take it over. Clearly, we would love to see someone like Southwest, JetBlue, and/or AirTran to start service. Even an airline like USA 3000 or Spirit would be attractive.
Also, Myrtle Beach is looking to restart service to RFD via their own charter airline called Myrtle Beach Direct Air.
