Mason Street & Butler Bank

We have talked many times about the lots on Mason Street that were sold via an RFP to the Mason-Winfield partnership.  The biggest lot, the former Royal Linen property, remains desolate over 4 years later, although the deed called for development within 2 years.

There was a smaller lot across the street, where duplex was built for home ownership.  Nobody has bought it, although it does appear that it is being rented?   The reason I bring this up today was that when the duplex was being built there was a sign "Financed by Butler Bank".   I never heard of Butler Bank before but I did yesterday.

They were the seized yesterday, story in the Boston Globe, by the Massachusetts Division of Banks.

Has anyone ever checked where the bank loan financing comes from for other Worcester low income housing projects?

What was the slogan "Buy Worc....Buy Local" something like that..amongst many others over the years. Then there is the utter audacity of Worc Common Grd to allow a sign (legal?)to be placed on the site of thsi duplex touting the funding that is coming from some bank based up in Lowell that also it seems has twoo branchs in Marlboro that they took over..that supposedly were formerly a local Marlboro bank.

For the record (as Greta would say) Worcester Common Grd never seems to have any issues with obtaining their Home Funds locally. It s/b written into any new low income housing deals that if the low in dev'er is going to use Worc Home funds then for Gods sake they should use a Local Worc bank for any needed construction fianncing.

The $64,000 question is what is Worc Common Grds nexus to Butler Bank. I have a sawbuck that says it could possibly be found in Marlboro. Justa gut feeeling.

So I am stopped the oterh night at that god awful mess on N Lake Avenue where it's one way and I am headed toward Plantation st waiting out the red like and there's sign there that says "Keep Left". I cannot recall ever seeing sign in a situation like this that says keep left.........usulally they are all Keep Right. Then I thot to myself, well this is Havana Jim Mcgovern turf so Keep Left is only appropriate.

SO I procceed to the Fallon Clinic on Plantnation and then hop on 290 towrd downtown and for at least a week now there has been one of those flashing overhead signs on 290 (I call them Amber ALert Signs) that says something to effect "Look Twice Be Careful for Motorcycles" Now this sign and another similar one in the area that I cannot recall right now have been flashing this message for at least a week and prob. longer. All the while I have bene thinking to myself why arent these signs flashing a message that somehow conveys the republican convention is in Worc this weekend and what exit to take for it? Wouldnt you thinnk teh Convention Bureua, (we do still have one?), the DCU folks, the C. of C., and Econ Dev'ment honchos would have seen to it that such a message got out the to all the interstate higway travelers? I mean hey...........there's a reason they call these bikers donors in the emergency ward [g].
