Sign Question

Signman:

I got a question..  Today I was driving through Kelly Square and I noticed a portable digital sign in front of the Auto Glass place.    Where do I start?

  1. Is this legal under the current ordinance?
  2. Is this considered a temporary sign?
  3. Does a permit need to be pulled for this sign?
Thanks

1. No I do not think so
2. I believe temporary sign but not legal
3. It needs a permit.

I do not know what people are thinking but this is the sign junk that this city does not need... along with banners.. let me ask a question would you rather see a liquor store like the one across from the pickle barrel cluttered with temp. signs.. or like State, Mass and Randell Liquors with no temp signs clean operation with LED sign ( with exception of the owner of Randell's) I do want this city to look like Vagas but would like the revenue but don't like the ghetto look it has now either with Temp signs. looking forward to this new sign regs so I can get back to work..

Geeeeeeeee.....I wonder is that the glass place that is just about opposite one of the primary means of egress to the Code Dept..... i.e. the street that intersects with Madison St at the Burger King? It must have the nec. permits if code dept folks drive by it daily? Or if not maybe it gets the "Auditorium Treatemnt" when the code dept drives by.........a.k.a. as blinders.

Anyone ever notice how many utility poles in Worcester look like the leaning Tower of Pisa. Dangerous structures that s/b marked with large Red X's?

Do flags or emblems come under the sign ordidnace? What about a protruding wall clock/temperature sign that cantilevers over the sidewalk? I assume you need a buildng permit to attach a structure/fixture to the side of the building to hold a sign or large flag?

What about all these union campaigns signs I see everywhere tacked on to poles and buildings?
Kinda tough to expect compliance when some city employess are in the Teamsters Union Local 170?
