Hadley Apartments--511,000 Per unit

We have discussed this for years on this blog, now I know why it was not featured in any of the recent no-income bus tours.   For now I will not comment and simply ask people to read, click here

Gabe, we had several lively comment sections about the Hadley in the past could not help but read some of these this morning.    Told you two years ago that we may never see any market rate housing or a parking garage and this will be just another low income housing project.  Looks like, sorry to say, I am right.

Don't feel bad the same thing is happening on Southgate Place.    They have promised owner-occupied housing, a daycare center amongst other things but for now they need to start with 25 units of low income housing.    In the end that is all we will get.    Next time you are down in this area you need to check out the size of this place and how it absolutely does not fit into the neighborhood.

Is the Chevalier Buiding Project going to be any different?

Do you think this article has caused the Canal District "movers & shakers" to rethink their support for the Chevalier project?

Dave:

Winn does a good job at this stuff. They typically only have a portion, no more then 25% "affordable", and they usually provide off street parking. Not even sure, if they did the Royal Worcester, but I think it will end up like that which is a an asset to Main South.

I think the City of Worcester, however, should think twice about forking all sorts of HOME funds to all of these projects. If you are going to fund any ...

Only fund those that have a limit on affordable housing.

Bill,

So does that mean you support the Chevalier project and the plans for the old Voke school by Winn?

Dave:

I am not sure, but I am starting to like of the things. All things equal I would rather see market rates like the old Lincoln Square Boys Club over Winn.

Give me Winn any day over these other projects that are 100% affordable with all sorts of variances and no parking.

If you limit low-mod income to 10% and thee are not a million and one variances with parking, I could support it. Royal Worcester on Grand Street has been good for that neighborhood.
