- household of one can earn up to 32,380

- household of three can earn up to 41,250
- household of four can earn up to 46,140

If you make over these income limits, you can not rent one of the 19 units. Please note rents include heat not eletricity.
The thing that bothers me about this schedule is lets take a look at a young working couple, who have not bought a house but need an apartment. If they make over $36,900 combined, they can not rent an apartment here.

For a long time I thought that the airport commission did alot of their business behind the scenes outside the official board minutes. Now I am starting to think maybe they are the last to know what is going on at ORH themselves?

december 1 minutes states next meeting scheduled for 12/15/08 so there probably wasn't much to report.

By my count that's about 25 kids (give or take a few) that this dev'ment will send into the public school system at 12,000 a pop = $300,000 add'l expense to teh city schools..........anyone care to guess what this building will pay in property taxes?
I'll assure you it's a hell of a lot less than $300,000.
This "business model" is just NOT SUSTAINABLE for the City and must be dis-continued. Densely built, low income housing is a ticking time bomb for city finances and no one at city hall even sees this financial train wreck roaring down the tracks. How can city leaders be so naive?
Nothing is more costly to Worc then freee housing dollars sent via Jim Mcgovern, et al.
And what of the old Crompton KNowles building...............God ho wmany units of housing can they squeeze in there?
And where's the City Office of Planning (so called?) and Neighborhood Dev'ment (destruction?)....asleep at the switch.

The Executive Director, Ron Charette, of the South Worester Neighorhood Center, a 51% owner of SOuthgate Place has used the students from this development as a reason why this must be built??
According to him, he has told us that enrollment is down at Canterbury Street School. Unless more students go to this school, it will be closed so we need this development to provide students to keep the school open?

I've been following this blog for a few weeks now. I'm fairly ignorant to most of the facts as I only recently moved back to Worcester. Where/how would you suggest I learn more?
I want to buy my first home in the next year and these sort of policies are distressing. I have worked in low-income human services before (entrepreneur now), but even this sort of policy bothers me.
Bill, you telling us that the 12yr old (?) Caterbury St. school is not at full utilization.
I guess it's easy to say poor planning..........but hey what else can i say ?
So maybe I'd being asking Mr Charette: What if the stidents who move into this dev'ment are merely transplanted from other schools in the city......to steal a phrase from the city playbook no "net new students" ???.....then we'll have to close a school elsewhere in the city???
Also, where in the mission statement of SWNC is it stated that part of theoir mission is have full enrollemnt at the local school(s) ??
How about they re-focus their mission to full occupancy at Cambridge/Hacker St new housing dev'ment (now 82% vacant) as that would send at least 12-15 students into Canterbury st school?
This whole situation with SWNC reminds Reminds me of an elderly couple living in 2 rooms of a 3000 sq ft house that they cant currently pay the mortgage on and now they want to add on another 6000 sq ft addition just b/c someone gave the money to build the additon.
This entire non profit constr of low income housing with my tax dollars is not at all about providing housing, but is really about building unsustainable non profit feifdoms and enriching the people who run the non profits....whilst raping the taxpayers of money and the 3 decker landlords of the city.
Wonder if wages will go up at SWNC after they realize their developers fee of how much...........175,000??. They shouldnt get teh fee for merely dev'ing.....they should only get their dev'er fee once thier mission is accomplished.......... i.e. 100% occupancy.

Be real careful....when deciding..this city has no Master Plan and is run by these non-profiter's who do not live within any of the areas they practice their social engineering..and are getting paid real well to practice what they wouldn't dare do in their own neighborhood...or can do in Cities actually on the Move...cities on the move in most places is defined by a city where folks are flocking to not defined as such because it can pack 100 generic restaurants on a street and say see we have culture...
This city will only change if cats like yerself move wihin it but it is going to require a steel spine and mucho cajones!
There is absolutely NO BALANCE and as long as THE MAN can keep the "huddled unemployed, yearning to be unemployed" within the Urban Core of the city then we will see no change!

Are you trying to point out that ORH is becoming more GA friendly? I doubt that.
I was recently stranded (by a fast than predicted weather front) in Keene. I returned several days later to retrieve my plane. I asked for a pre-heat, and found my battery was dead when I tried to start it, so I also needed a battery charging, and another pre-heat.
So, Mr anonymous, How much would I have paid for these services (3 days of parking, 2 pre-heats, and a battery charge) at ORH?
OH, and I didn't need to wait around for someone to escort me to my plane either.
