I thought there was a new sign ordinance. Or does that only apply to taxpaying businesses?

I am so confused on this stuff now .. I have no idea if this is legal or not anymore

Signman, please enlighten.

Good Lordie, a sign like could be at least an indirect cause of a traffic accident, if not not a direct cause

Legal............mmmmm....she apppears to at least 18??? :) what was the old adage.......17 will git ya 7????

I got a question for Signman ,too. If I rent or lease property from the city...like if I want to re-incarnate Sh Booms as an example........would any signs iI place on the site be exepmt from the sign ordinance.b/c the city always exempts itself from all the laws they make.

In a similar situation, if I am into bio-tech over on Plantation St and assuming the state owns the land (not sure if they do or dont), is the state land also exempt from the sign ordinance?

City and state property is exempt form the ordinances...do as I say not as I do...for city use that is why the DCU Center has three digital signs and most city councilors don't want the average businessman to have any???
The city planner and planning board has done a good job on cleaning up this old ordinance... limiting size of sign to size to fit the building etc...this banner has to have a special permit... A local sign company has applied for many of these most denied from what I have read... the reason... he has been asked what he is going to put on these non accessory signs and he does not say... a non accessory sign is like a billboard advertising for stuff other than what is on that property... right now there is nothing on freedom of speach...I think will verify that...this is not advertising for anything or anyone.. or should I say it is advertiseing one hell of a pair... I will look into this and clarify later... read Bill's old blog this year of April 3rd 2010...

right now non commercial signs are not regulated... so this gives someone time to the new law is in place to do stuff like this.. let me ask you Jahn...You sit on the zoning board if the guy put something up like this.. would you grant him a variance?

9:39: Councilor Toomey says the PETA ad is disgraceful to women, nurse, and says it’s sending the wrong message to young children. She jokes with Councilor Ruston that he’s able to see it from his office window. She says “it straddles the line” after Mayor O’Brien reminds her of freedom of speech.
