Over the past couple of weeks I have the number 600 mentioned twice regarding the number of City employees on IOD. That just seems like a huge number!!! Maybe someone should ask for a report on this???
I can think of six(?))more on the school side.........10 of 11 on the council.....all puppets for city labor interests
Look at it this way, if 600 are IOD that's 12% (600/4800) of the city work force that's being paid to not work just b/c of IOD...... Then add in 4 weeks vacation on average and 2 weesk paid sick time on average for those who are working......and that's another 12% (6/52) of the city payroll that's not working and being paid. Then there's the trash haulers who are working 4 to 4.5 hrs a day and being paid for 8
Anyone beginning to get a picture of why we're sliding into real bankruptcy.........we've been technically bankrupt for years b/c of pension and accumulated sick time due to city employees.......except that's an off book thingie.......technically legal but substantively wrong.....kind a like a subprim'er moving their upside down mortgage, car loans, boat loans, & snowmobile lonas off the family "books"..........basically "we'll worry about em later"
you guys should have been at the Worcester Synergy Group meeting at Mahoney's Pub last month..I asked how much the rep for the Worcester retirees had to to pay yearly in insurance premiums..she told me $2200...I choked on my Smiticks...she kept using the word fixed income..I told her my grandmother worked for the Somerville School System for 30+ years and she too retired on a fixed income of SSI, Pension, Paid off house (2 of em')...savings, investments, health insurance..this fixed income crap is just that crap...I feel for a guy who drove a taxi all his life..no pension or insurance but this "dedicated their lives to us" hoss sheet is sickening..they have used these lines for so long they believe them..one guy was telling how because "supposedly" city employees got no raises they would be taken care of in retirement..he told of how his family suffered...his ole man should have gotten a 2nd job and his mother a job then or a better one than the city job...I never asked anyone to sacrifice for me in any city I have owned real estate..anyone else here??
Paulie, this notion of so called public service is a lotta baloney.......none of these employees past or present had anything stopping them from leaving city employment for greener pastures..............we all rise to the level of our own incompetence.........God you might think they were indentured servants the way they speak
Using "city employee speak".....the guy poor guy making grinding wheels at St Gobain or picking up the re-cyclables for Waste Management is working in "private service"
The entire country is is slowly breaking down into two different employment groups....those who work for the gov't and those who dont........imagine the baloney that goes on at the state level........it's probably much worse
Please on the state level our Lt. govenor is paying fired city councilor Mike Perotto $20,000 to walk him around when he is in Worcester. What political hack horseshit. Poor Mikey needs to send his kids to college and it is the taxpayers responsibility. This entitlement thought is ruining our country. All empires in history have failed because of greed, next is our country

If IOD means incompetent of Duties I'm sure that 600 is two small. I can think of 11 without leaving the council chanbers

Are the taxpayers of Worc. being Enron'ed?
Jahn & Wosterite:
I am not sure 600 is a correct number, but I have heard it at least twice. Only wish someone from the City Council actually asks about this.
If this number is accurate this one of the scariest things I have heard in a long time,
Bill
Someone should identify these people.
They can hire a consultant to do it.
They could call him the identify injured on duty consultant, or IDIOT for short.
