- ask for a report on the pros and cons to long-term lease or sell ORH to MassPort
- reminded everyone that we have 6 months in the current agreement, but commented on the recent speculation in recent month to long-term lease or sell ORH
- listed the many pros to have MassPort take over--1) they have more money, 2) instant credibility, 3) no more drain on the City tax-payers
- on the con side--1) we would lose control, 2) cargo planes and noise would be a concern to neighbor, etc.
Bottom line was that City Councilor Rosen was trying to get some information in advance on the pros and cons so he has the adequate information in hand to make an educated vote when, or should I say if, a vote is asked of him to approve a sale or long-term lease of ORH to MassPort.

Massport has more money than who, a private operator? I am from Missouri.
Just b/c they have more money that does not mean they will spend it at ORH.
Instant credibility? Not too sure what that means? Private airport co's have no/less credibility and this is based on what ??
Massport = no more drain on city taxpayers? Dittos for a private operator. Frankly, as I have attempted to show here, a private operator will be much more beneficial to city taxpayers.
All options are on the table? Is private management/ownership on the table/
God help us if MOB is consulting with a journalist about ORH's future?
We would lose control? Dont we lose control no matter what we do? Guess we still want to keep "polititcal "control and thats why Massports?
Cargo plane Noise? All planes make noise. Airports attract planes. I can see it coming now. ORH with new operator adds many more flights and then eveyone starts +++++'ing. It will be the ROAR mindset all over again.
One thing not mentioned is that all City employees prob keep their jobs w Massport vs. a diff scenario if a prviate co takes over.
Alaso not mentionedis that Logan still comes 1st, then Handscome , & then Orh.
Handing off to Massport is COMPLETE FISCAL MISMANAEMENT.

You bring up some great points. That is why, I believe Councilor Rosen, asked for the report. Too bad we did not have IMG do a report on that??
For the record I have no problem with Robert Z Nemeth believing that ORH should be long-term leased or sold to MassPort. I do, however, have a problem that as a past Airport Chairman and current Airport Board Member, he should have been stating the case why this should be the case to the tax-payers the past 8 years. How about bringing it up at an Airport Board Meeting recorded in the Minutes???
Jahn, think about this... If "decison-makers" three years ago contracted with IMG to put together an RFP for the entire airport and market it nationwide with an effective date of July 1st 2007, many of your questions and concerns would have been answered.

What New England, meduim sized city has given out millions in free gov't money to a new local non-profit theatre while 661 local eating establishments are forced to incur 1000's in costs to meeet new gov't imposed mandates?
This is a little off-topic, but I was reading the cons, and I noticed the noise part of the cons. I live right under ORH's flight path for Runway 29, normally used for landings. And when I say under the flight path, I mean when the plane is under 1 mile out. With that said, I have to say, the traffic is pretty quiet. Every once in a while when a 737 charters in here, you can't really hear it unless a window is open. None of the neighbors really complain about the noise. Thought I would just throw that in.
