Sunday Telegram

If John Kerry or the late Ted Kennedy had come to Worcester for a rally at Institute Park to support Democratic candidates, do you think the story would be on page 7?   No way it would have been all over the front page.

Why is this strange? Scott Brown may be a senator, but his election less than a year ago is more due to Martha Coakley silliness and state Dems foolishness than to his own character or skills.
Also, it's no dig on Scott Brown to say he hasn't accomplished in one year a tiny fraction of what either Kerry or Kennedy has/had, but it's true. Let's see him act the part before we get all excited about a repub rally appearance. A better media critique would be to ask whether martha would be getting front page coverage had she won.

This has nothing to do with last year's election. The US Senator makes an appearance at a rally in Worcester two days before the election is a front page story.

If John Kerry showed up yesterday with Deval Patrick and had a rally at Institute Park, do you think it would have been on the front page.

I agree with Bill on this one. A John Kerry/Deval Patrick rally would have been a page 1 story.

What I don't understand about the Worcester Sunday Telegram is how in the world did they win "Newspaper of the year" recently? Most of their sunday newpaper sections come from the Boston Globe. Of the sections actually produced in Worcester there is next to nothing as far as actual news content.

I will however give the T&G editor kudos for responding to an email that I sent about NECN. If I was NECN I would be pretty p****d with Charter communications.

First they move it to channel 77 and now (according to the T&G editor), it has been moved to the didgital tier. I don't think a local regional news station should be moved off the expanded basic cable line-up. And to add further insult, it is done prior to the mid-term elections.

Nick, how can one expect a senator who is conservative and although an independent is probably more aligned w/repubs than dems to accomplish a whole heck of a lot in 9 months when:

a. the senate was probably only in session for 6 of those nine months,

b. 2 of the above 6 months were consumed will the Health care bill,

c. the libs are controlling both housess and presidency & Brown is a conservative

d. the 2 seantors (Kerry & Kenn) you are comparing him with have (had) a collective 65+ years in as senators, the last 4 of which they belonged to the party ( Demo.) that has controlled both houses for the last 5 years.

If the red Sox have to go to the bullpen in the top of the 8th and releiver strikes out the side in the 8th & 9th innings are you then going to blame the reliever for a 3-2 loss because the Sox offense didnt score any runs in the 8th & 9th innings?

DAVID...........MI HOMBRE......!!!!!!!...Happy Munday Morning two yew...speaking of Institute Park.........what ever became of that 3,000 foot tower the Fire Dept was going to erect in Institute Park....AND...AND....AND.....the MILLIONS+ $$$$ (?) that was donated for this express purpose? It Must be parked over on Glennie St drawing 1/2% interest.....huh??? The community deserves a refund.

And hey Randell speaking of front page coverage, when can I expect to see the CBA bigwigs at least above the fold on the 1st page of the local news seccion', if not front and center on Page Uno. Maybe it's been suggested but for some unknown reason the editors nixed it. :( Ya gotta watch out whose 3 piece suit gets a few water drops on it :)

hmmm, maybe I didn't write clear enough.

1) a republican rally featuring scott brown is about as interesting as a democratic rally featuring (alternate universe) martha coakley. (i.e. not very interesting)

2) any partisan candidate rally becomes more interesting when the appearing senator has amassed a substantial and respected track record over his/her years of service. Through no fault of his own, Scott Brown does not possess this track record
