as a lad from the state of new jersey, I can tell you that anyone with a kid in the public schools isn't happy. Cut other areas first, but don't remove all the school librarians, etc. He's hated, including me, which is why is numbers are so low. He is the Republican Jim Florio. The problem is that the democratic governors have sucked too, corzine and mcgreevy. jersey is a great place, but they sure picked the wrong horse.

Whats going on IN NJ will soon happen in most all other states.

The private sector cannot continue to carry the exorbitatn costly burden of teachers making over 100,000$ on an annulaized basis, cops knocking down $150,000 per year, and rank & file fire fighters making 60,000$ for work a week that may involve a few hours of actually working. Then add in 80% defined benefit pensions, retirment in mid 50's, and health insurance for life and we have an unsustainable disaster. Demos & repubs are both to blame.

This notion that public sector workers are somehow immune from econ. realities b/c they're involved in public safety or teaching is dead wrong.

Public sector & qausi public sector workers are clueless about what a real work life is like in the dreaded privae sector.

S/b interesting to see what happens in Bawstin this week with the 19% (over a few yrs) FF'er raise. I love it when cluless politicains ($75,000 per year city coucilors) are about to be wish boned no matter which way they vote.

Good to see you around here Dave. Welcome back.
