Problem with Arizona law is that there is no document other than a US Passport that is definitive proof of citizenship.
Few years back congress tried to push the "real id" law but was rebuffed on one side by states who said they could not afford the cost. On the other side was the nut jobs who thought it was government intrusion or the "mark of the beast".
There is also no central database of which an employer or law enforcement can query to check immigration status.
The Arizona law is completely unenforceable for the reasons mentioned above. A police officer simply cannot ask you to provide something that the majority of us do not have, and that he cannot check on anyway.
It is a dog and pony show. The people jumping on the boycott bandwagon are just as dumb as the people in Arizona passing laws that cannot be enforced.
We need a complete overhaul of everything related to immigration and identification.
