Part of an e-mail I just received from Beth Proko:
Just want to vent that the lowest residential vote once again caused our home tax bill to go up. This time by $736. That will teach me to complain about the $682 increase last year.

It’s been nearly a year since I wrote about the problems that come from
having 11 bosses who are not on the same page about anything, as well as

Everyone just leave Worcester. Stop believing in it. Next thing you know your going to wake up and be 75 and notice that nothing has really changed. Just move to a surrounding town and make your money and your happiness go much further. I used to live in Worcester and wanted to stay but no change was on the horizon so I left and it's the best thing i've done.
I bought my first WooTown house in 1992...I saw Living Earth and how nice it looked..saw all the folks willing to shop there not live here but shop there and said.."I'll be the next piece in the puzzle".....my mother and uncle both told me that the path of progress always ends at your front door...I was idealistic at 28..still am at 47..still own in WooTown..75 is only 28 more years away....if the WooTown rats do not get me:>)
It really is sad that Worcester can't get it together. I guess I still hold some hope for Worcester, it's by no means a total lost cause. I just couldn't wait around any longer but I would still like to see the city get it together since I work downtown every day.
I guess I should not complain about business taxes.. all taxes did go up... the sad part is when the economy swings the taxes will not go down... The Dem's will find another way to spend the money... can you say Mass Pike? My house taxes went up and do I dare say I do not live in Worcester but we are paying for a new safety building with no commercial base to help.. seven million and will take our town forty years to pay back.
Should I thank the ALB?
According to the City assessor, my Burncoat St. area house lost 22% of its value between FY '09 and FY '10. Thanks to this significant drop in valuation, my FY '10 taxes actually decreased $400 despite the rate hike.
We did lose all our street trees to the ALB, wonder if this has anything to do with this apparently generous reduction in value?

Wow! Who knew trees added so much value. I mean, we know they add value, but who knew it was quantifiable?
Have you gotten any takers for the commercial space in the Hadley building yet? I hope it's going well. :-)
Dont thank ALB, my burncoat st area house value went up 30%
