If the administration does recommend the market rate proposal from Acorn, it will be great seeing which side the city councilors are with the issue of putting the brakes on affordable housing in the city. This would be a great first step.
a. the likes of Great brook Valey where many/most have no incoe/jobs
b. NOLO's for those with earnings... he mentioned something about thoise earning $50,000 and buildings are erected using the sale of low income housing tax credits. ( he fails to mention the more direct gov't subsidy of straight cash as well as Home Funds.)
c. I didnt catch the 3rd category...[moi telephonos rang]
So are we headed down a path that some NOLO's are more or less desireable than others based on JOB's classifications? E.g. some housing projects are less desirable but CDC built housing is more desiaraable?
Many cities across the country are razing housing prjects and replacing them with less densely built houising. But here in Worc we continue thsi densely built, overly intensive land use.......aided and abetted by the zoning authorities......witness Cambridge & Hacker sts and May/Silver St.
IMO WPI 's influence will ultimately decide for the city council what goes in there.
Dare i ask a question.........whats wrong with just leaving other sites lay fallow....at least for now, IF NOLO housing is the only option.........cheaper to just grass it over, fence it in, and leave it. Just dont be like Worc Common Grd and let 4 ft ragweed grow all over your inventory of vacant land and shovel you sidewlaks too......
Paulie is Mason St. site currently shovled? Their headquaters on Belleview St. were not shoveled to 4ft width last time I looked.
SO much for WCG's mission statement about promoting the safety and general welfare of their area(s).
For a $14,000 donation, one would surmise that McGovern has aleady made his intentions known re: this?
Ya think that Winn would get freebie sewer and water hook ups even tho they are a for profit company? Stay tuned?? If you were Winn, would u expect parity with CDC's at least for the NOLO portion of your constr.
Is Winn from the Woburn/ Burlington area as in Winn St?

Phil Palmieri siad this morning on WTAG that the administration was going to make a recommendation before next week's council meeting.
The council was taking this up at next week's meeting and he believes the administration was going to recommend the market rate proposal.

to me the city needs the money... they should take the higher bid..this would be hard for the council to sell to tax payers.. losing out on $200 plus
Did anyone catch Mayor JOB on POlito thsi morning
He was categorizing NOLO housing.
