BOSTON— Management changes are in the air at Worcester Regional Airport today as the current airport manager is leaving the post he has held since 1999 to take a new Massachusetts Port Authority job at Logan International Airport, which will trigger the start of a search for a new airport manager. MassPort spokesman Matthew Brelis confirmed today that Eric N. Waldron, who came to Worcester from Cleveland where he was assistant director of Hopkins Airport, is leaving the Worcester airport job to join the aviation team that manages Logan airport operations. MassPort is expected to begin a search for a new director with the aim of filling the post sometime in the next few months.
It will be the first time the job will be filled by MassPort, since it assumed operation of the airport after Mr. Waldron was hired by former Worcester City Manager Thomas R. Hoover. The change at the top comes as MassPort is raising expectations for expanded operations at the underused regional airport and on the heels of the recent announcement that Direct Air wants to bring regularly scheduled passenger service back to the airport.

This is about 1/2 of the story on page A6 of today's Telegram. I wonder why the T&G fails to publish airport stories on-line. Maybe they're worried about silly bloggers scrutinizing their slants.
Something missed in the on-line version is the fact that they're looking for someone with the ability to market the airport.
From the printed copy:
"I think Eric Waldron, in terms of operations, is known as being one of the best, but clearly efforts at Worcester are going to require an energy and commitment to market and create ans sell this airport to general aviation, corporate aviation, and other airlines and this is an opportunity to go out and get someone with that background" Mr. Murray said.
I could not agree more with Lt Governor's assessment. We need an airport director, who not only knows the technical aspect of running an airport, but needs to be a salesman like the Airport Director at Rockford.
Lets hope the new Airport Director reaches out to silly bloggers like us and sees us as the ally that we can sure be an not as the "enemy".

It still amazes me that we are not looked at as more of an asset to the cause of ORH. We are probably the few people who actually care about it.
Nobody wants to hear that they are doing a bad job, especially when they are doing a bad job.
What amazes me Tim is the two comments found on the T&G article. Looks like there still some more work to do

Bill how much has IMG spent recruiting & retaining an airline.............btw I guess they didnt have anything to do with Direct Air landing here..............seems it was all a political quid pro quo......???.....
a. not only with the political strong arming....
b. but with $300,000(+?) of gov't money to boot
now think about it........w/o these 2 above items...........worc airport is basically dead in the water.........I dont have a problem with this as an initail incentive, b/c it's use it or lose for the $300,000...........but it speaks volumes to viability of Worc Airport as a comm. airline venue (and as a charter airline venue) i.e. possibly not viable
do we know yet if this is seasonal only
also are we going to get the $1M form Washington..............for meeting (not!) .....the 100,000 annual passenger headcount......
