South Worcester NRSA funds

I tried to apply for some monies (10,000) to do a roof over on a 3 decker that I own in the South Worcester NRSA.    Got turned down because it was not owner-occupied, South Worcester was the only NRSA to require owner occupancy to get funds..

All things being equal, I would rather an owner-occupied house get preference.   When monies are left on the table in the South Worcester NRSA and not spent, maybe applicants of non-owner occupied houses should have been welcome???

Is this for a loan or a grant? If the latter, too bad. Pay for it yourself!

Monies were given to an area for Neighborhood Revitlization. I agree that preference should be given to owner-occupied houses.

I would rather have seen monies being invested in non-owner occupied houses though (including the one I owned), versus seeing the money being lost.

Yes, I will be doing the rough myself. My point was the non-owner occupied houses are still part of the neighborhood that we are trying to make better and South Worcester was the only 1 of 5 NRSA's to make this a requirement, and in the end it was the worst performing NRSA in the City of Worcester.

In the Chandler NRSA we invest monies in both non-owner and owner-occupied houses.

Thanks

Bill

Sell a .001% interest in one of the units (apts) to one of the tenants. Take back a 100% mortgage on teh sale of the .001% interest. Just make sure they are NOT owners in joint tenancy....s/b tenants by the entirety (I think)

Have them apply to NRSA as they are now homeowners

ANd if your rental property is in the correct locale, they can also send their kids to Clark for nada b/c they would be deemed property owners w/in Clarks "free tuition zone".

Eventually they will defautl on the mortgage.

Also, if they are minorities, NSRA will be even more pre- disposed to give em a grant. Not being "ray-cyst" here, but that's just reality.

What ya cant do directly, you do indirectly.

Tenants by the entirety must be married to each other.

That's why I said in parentheses (I think?).

Bottom line...check with your lawyer and hope that NRSA types dont read this blog.

And speaking NRSA, whats going on over at Executive Office of Neighborhood services lately. Any news outta there? Kinda quiet.
