Today they broke story about how much Vision Airline cost Rockford Airport. More importantly it looks like MassPort is talking with Spirit Airlines.
Same Time Next Year

It’s been nearly a year since I wrote about the problems that come from
having 11 bosses who are not on the same page about anything, as well as
suggestion...

From the story:
Walsh said "We waved landing fees and terminal fees for Direct Air.”
If that is true, how did DA rack up 84,716.50 in fees due to Massport (per their BK filing)

I think Spirit would be a great airline for ORH. It can complete for Central Mass travelers who usually use jetblue and Southwest at either BOS or PVD.
Spirit may be a good "Spag's Mentality" fit for Worcester.
I would like to see Spirit. They have a V-Young fleet avg age of 4.5 years. Nice interiors.
As i said in a previous post, Spirit could use ORH as their NE base to compete against JetBlue.
I think Spirit would be a great fit, rather than Allegiant. Spirit would most likely fly to Orlando Intl. (not SFB) and Ft. Lauderdale out of ORH using their 145 seat Airbus 319 aircraft.
i too mentioned before to bring in spirit. great minds think alike. they do fly to san juan, with the demographics of the city and area im sure that would be popular. i think virgin america would be a good airline too, they only have 2 flights out of boston both to cali, and they used to fly out of orh for direct air when they first came to town. like ive mentioned before orh doesnt need/cant compete with the big 4, but there is alot of people who live close enough who would like to travel for a weekend getaway.
Looks like Spirit flies 4 routes out of Logan.... Ft Lauderdale, Dallas , Chicago and Myrtle Beach.

If Spirit flies to Myrtle beach from Logan, I would tend to think they arent coming to Worc?
I have mentioned Peoples Airlines a few weeks ago. I read they're making a come back or hoping for one and they are in search of a new England airport and/or NEw England hub.
Why can't Worcester be more of a New England hub for all kinds of transportaion related thingies. For a mid sized city we def. will have the freight trains soon and Tim Murray said about a month ago the number of commuter rail trains using Union Station will double w/in a month. I aint hold my breathe.
I've read that PeoplExpress will fly to Providence, as well as Pittsburgh and Newport News. Looks like to ORH in their future...
I don't understand why Massport won't upgrade the ILS, which would be approximately $3.7 million. This would be a key improvement to lure in new carriers, and apparently Massport has money to spend (full page Telegram ad).
