The problem with a survey like that is that it's too easy to fudge the numbers.
There was a recent survey in the online version of the Sonoma, California newspaper asking if the airport should be closed. Some residents were complaining about noise.
Word got out on the internet that NIMBYs were trying to close another airport, and pilots across the country 'voted' in the survey. In the end, 85 percent of the votes were against closing the airport. What's interesting is that the vote was 85,000 to 15,000. The population of Sonoma is only 10,000.
Back ORH had an airport liaison, I suggested he (or someone else) spend time outside one of the other local airports asking people where they were going and what their zipcode was. Using that data as a sample, it would be pretty easy to roughly calculate what destinations would best serve ORH.
What destinations would you assume JetBlue would be looking at from ORH? I think Sarasota, Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, and New York (JFK).
