The best case scenario for ORH is to have daily service to JFK from JetBlue, from which you can then connect to anywhere around the country direct. If it is not JetBlue then someone else, but JetBlue makes the most sense to due to the closeness of their hub and their current relationship with MassPort out of Boston.
Many poeple recently have called one flight per week out of ORH to Florida from JetBlue as "token" or worthless. It most definately is not. There is no way in hell anyone airline is going to drop out of the sky inot ORH, that has no commercial service, and start daily shuttles to a hub.
A direct flight to Florida with JetBlue will give us an opportunity to show demand exists in Worcester!! If JetBlue prices this flight higher then Boston and Providence and we fill the plane making it a profitable flight, what do you think will happen next?
A direct flight by a carrier, whether it is JetBlue or some other legacy carrier, gives Worcester a chance. That is all we can ask for right now.

florida and san juan are six months at best high use routes......again as nick stated somewhere below.....once/twice or thrice aday flights to a major hub like atlanta or charlotte would be best.....it allows connector traffic all over the World........florida only bound twice a.week has failed......JetBlue is not the CDC of airlines.....DirectAir is and failed.....if it takes another year for a.solid plan to be developed so be it even tho most airlines have most likely already evaluated the airport.
Nick is right, but nobody is going to come to Worcester with multiple flight weekly which you would need for commuter traffic.
We have to start leisure, estbalish ourselves as a profitable place to do business then we look for hub service....
We need to walk before we can run?
People sometimes don't "get" when a major company like JetBlue is even considering coming here ....they are not just going to throw $$$ at ORH...even if Massport, Tim Murray or anyone else is pushing them along. They have done their due diligence and see a potential business opportunity ... when Allegiant was here , their loads were at 85% and above ... same with Direct Air... now we have ...arguably, the best airline in the USA considering ORH ...albeit for 1 flight a week or numerous ...that is GREAT news!!!
I remember when Starbucks was considering coming into Worcester...the local media just didn't 'get' it... what they failed to realize is Starbuck's people pour MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of $$$$ into researching locales for their stores ... they don't come to you unless you have potential.
Wal Mart did the same thing when they built their 'future store model' on 146 in Worcester...with all the solar, wind, LEED , etc...
This is GREAT news for Worcester if JetBlue comes to Worcester...even if for 1 leisure flight per week...

im sure jetblue is waiting for massport to install/upgrade the catIII system for the bad weather before making any final decision. like ive said here on this blog before, even though there are 4 big airports within 1 hour drive, massport can still find some niche in the airline business for orh to serve. lets not forget was worcester has to offer in terms of higher education, central mass tourism, and the fact that atleast 250,000 people live closer to orh then the other big 4 that a leisure flight to florida would be good. a leisure route to san juan would be good to considering the demographics.
Is Jetblue's fleet Cat III capable? Are the pilots Cat III qualified (and current)?
