ORH WoMag Cover Story

Here is the link. Pretty depressing stuff. Couple interesting points:

  1. "of the 20 airlines we have spoken to since the IMG report". Really? By review of the airport commission minutes maybe one or two airlines, DJ Airline which never became an airline and Skybus that went out of business, have ever been discussed.
  2. Hard to getting in touch with our Airport Director. No surprise here.

Before I go any further. Just read it.

The list of airports only show airports with control towers. Last I heard, there were 52 airports in Mass. I suspect Fitchburg has more operations than ORH.

The only airports with less flights than ORH are Logan, which goes out of it's way to discourage general aviation, and summer-only destinations.

I really wish someone would write an article doing a side-by-side comparison of Worcester and Fitchburg.

I think Womag spoke too soon:

BREAKING NEWS: Worcester Airport To Add Service To Florida

By Christina H. Davis

Worcester Business Journal Staff Writer

Today

Lt. Gov. Tim Murray and other state officials are expected to announce new passenger service from Worcester Regional Airport to Southwest Florida at a press conference Friday at 9 a.m.

According to a brief announcement from Massport, the new service will begin this fall, and will be direct to Southwest Florida.

Other officials expected to be on hand at the press conference - which will be held at the State House in Boton - include Transportation Secretary Bernard Cohen and Massport CEO and Executive Director Thomas J. Kinton.

The Worcester Regional Airport has long been a source of consternation for local economic development officials. Several attempts to secure regular air passenger travel from the site have failed in the past. Some have even called for the airport to be shut down to make way for other, more profitable ventures.

The WBJ will provide updates on this story as more details emerge.

Murray and other officials?????.............I would think OBrien & Konnie would be holding this press conference.....

OOOpps I forget, Murray will probabaly be flying out of Massport (Logan) to Ireland anyway on a trade mission. Does this term trade mission sound like a bunch of Indians and Pilgrims getting togeterh and trading some buffalo hides for some maize and smoking a pipe full of tabakki?

How times change, God, 150 years ago we didnt need any trade missions to bring the Irish here.

Massport going be smiling & thumping their chest over this annoncemtn?

Is this a quid pro quo by Massport and Casino Air?

Intereesting timing by Womag and the announcement

You know this time of year I get hot under the collar about certain waste of my time & my money....namely annual auto inspections........i have to wait in line..............cough up 29 Washingtons..........and then they tell me I need a new gas cap which he has available for $19. Boy was I pi++ed. Told him to flunk the car then and that he wasnt going to cap me for $19. Arguably, probably not the best thing to do, but this God Dam racket cost me over an hour of time today on a hot Sept afternoon.

Imagine how the cars behind me in line must feel....brand new cars .....fresh off dealers lot and they are required to have an inspection....WTH!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to be reporting back on CT's inspection rules when I get info on them. I know there's no inspection on new cars down there........and I think you dont need to bring it in again until car is 5 yrs old unless it been in an accident....
