Blog sabbatical

I have had a ton of fun with the blog, but lately I got to admit--it has not been much fun.  Maybe I should have retired at 3,000 blogs??     Every day now I get comments like "We get it Randell, you hate poor people". I delete them, but when you see messages like these every single day, you start to ask yourself why am I doing this?

Who knows maybe a $1,2000,000 sewer line for 8 apartments, which cost almost $400,000 each, is the way to move the City of Worcester of forward and help poor people.    Funny if I hate poor people, does that mean I am "rich people"?

Met alot of great people and made alot of friends, but now it seems like I am at the point of diminishing returns. This is not the end of the blog, but I am done for a while, or maybe I will resurface somewhere else?

Good luck to all my fellow bloggers geting their message out.  Right now I would rather focus on other things.  .

Bill,

I hope this is not the end. You ask the tough questions and raise the issues that should be discussed. You are obviously very committed to making Worcester the best city that it can be.

Unfortunately, when issues are raised that hit "too close to home", there will always be feathers that are ruffled. I guess that bloggers need to have thick skin in much the same way that politicians need to have it.

Best of luck as you embark on your sabbatical. Please keep in touch and don't lose your faith in the future of Worcester.

Regards,
David

Wise move Bill. Fact is your blog has gone down hill, confirmed by the fact that you started posting pictures of McDonald's oatmeal. The content became a joke.

Maybe a long pause will help you focus again on the reason you stared it in the first place.

As for hating poor people, there may be some truth to that. You've posted items that easily lead readers to misinterpret - you always leave yourself open to criticism.

Careful who you call friends Bill.

Bill ...you ROCK !!!! Enjoy the break and thanks for keeping some critical issues in the forefront while the regular media picked up on your 'scoops' weeks or even months later...

Enjoy the time with the family!

Sorry to read this Bill. I always knew this had to be alot of work and headaches. Somehow, I have to believe there will be issues that will bring you back out here. Maybe a good rest during the remainder of the summer and the early fall will refresh you. Jahns prescription for the immediate future: Play no less than 36 holes per week during the next three months.

The above said, I want to express my sympathies to David Z. who lost one his brothers. My sympathies to you and your large family.

Thank you Jahn for your expression of sympathy. My large family and I appreciate your thoughts.

Ohhh puuulllleeeezzz

this is just taking the mo of August off

I understand that psychiatrists do the same (film: "What about Bob?")

You will return --with vigor--come Labor Day as you won't be able to stomach the madness of the city council, the candidates or Will W.

Sorry to see the blog go. I can remember when I first found this website as I drove by your building on Pleasant Street and the sign on your business read something like "bring in jetblue". To bad we couldn't ever get jetblue here. See you around.

wild will you have had a positive influnce on the village of piedmont...you lead the csba thru sensitive times.....usually offered balanced ideas and i never heard you speak poorly of anyone(not ordaining you here)....urban worcester has been led by small minded fiefdoms for years all who are intensely hateful of new ideas or the notion that it can be more than what it is.....few in this city.do not make a living off "the poor"...IT IS A INDUSTRY in Worcester.....you are a sensitive cat like.me.....put your head down...run up the middle.and bang as.many as possible:)

You ask the tough questions that no one will ask and better yet...no one will answer...now is time to pay attention to the things that r important.. You family and your business...that is what I keep telling myself....because when we question what is wrong...we are starting trouble...old saying the truth hurts...you have done nothing but let the truth out...and it hurts....

rest, refocus and then come back. Maybe you shouldn't feel the need to constantly put in blogs that sometimes lose importance. Do it only if it really matters to you.

Your opinion and this vehicle for healthy debate and awareness matter.

Russ:

What healthy debate are you talking about he censures anyone he doesn't agree with in order to create an echo chamber...

I mean this is a Airport blog that never talks about the airport any more. Just used as a tool to rant against poor people and slander city officials

tim macdonald said...

Russ has a point. When or if you return lets get back to making ORH a real asset for Worcester. What about the flight bank? Worcester needs to have an airport to be proud of.

Bill Randell said...

Tim:

The travel bank is a great idea, but you and I can't do it but merely contribute to it. It really is what the Chamber of Commerce should do. Call Dick Kennedy.

Imagine if we raied a $1,000,000 bucks? What message would that send. On the other what message are we sending to any potential airline when we donothing.

Speaking of the airport, in case you missed it, Robert Nemeth had a column in the Sunday T&G about the airport. It actually did not include any references to the silly bloggers. :)
