They also had a full page ad in the telegram over the weekend. They're really having a great time with that $300,000.
I doubt they'll do free parking. I recall Julie Jacobsen cutting off the discussion of free parking when Allegiant was signed up with the statement 'That decision has already been made'.
It truly amazes me that a city that spent millions keeping idle people on the payroll 'just in case we get an airline' will not give up $5000 a month to keep an airline.
Knowing the cost of a full page ad, I do not think the cost is worth it either.
OK, we have been way to focused on the airport/Direct Air ... time to bring the discussion back to street food vendors. Just to stir it up a little, let's say it wasn't "El Delis" or a hot dog cart wanting to set up shop in downtown but rather an upscale eatery in an old Airstream trailer. Do you think the outrage would have been the same? The concept exists in Seattle:

...and they are looking to franchise nationwide:

Adds a new dimension to the debate, eh?

What does it cost us to collect the parking feees....vs......what do we realize in parking receipts?
"That decision (free vs paid parking) has already been made". Gee, I must have missed that at the airport commissiones last meeting????
Steve , I agree 100% with what you say about paying employees millions to stand around the airport waiting for an airline to arrive.............problem is no on ein city management or political office will ever layoff city labor..............short of the city going into receivership.....city labor controls 10/11ths of the council
jahn,
Jacobsen's statement that the decision has already been made was several years ago at the announcement that Allegiant would be coming to ORH.
I am not aware of any such statement recently.
