Thursday's flight from Punta Gorda arrived in Worcester on time despite the freezing rain and zero ceiling. Plane was de-iced and took off again on schedule. What now "doomsayers"?
This is soo stupid at soo many levels where do I start. First, we all know who this is so why does the anonymous blogger post his name?
Second. Just because someone disagrees with something does not make them a "doomsayer". Nobody is a bigger supporter of the airport, but suggesting a policy whereby bus transportation is provided to Boston in the event a plane can not land at ORH is not only practical, but good business and may convince someone to fly out of ORH.
Thirdly one of the reasons ORH has not succeeded is because we do not have someone like the Airport Director at Rockford out front selling the airport, instead we have silence and the occasion "anonymous" comment.

According to flightaware, when the flight arrived at 9:47am, ceilings were 100' and visibility was 2 miles.
Hardly 'zero ceilings'.

It kills me when a person at the airport actually looks at this blog as a negative?
How short sighted of them.

steve, no offense but youve obviously never flown a plane if you believe 100' cellings and 2mi vis are hardly anything. Technically, the ILS system at ORH can take a plane to 200' off the runway, so they must have been able to see the approach lights to be able to descend below that. Any pilot will tell you, myself included, flying an ILS to approach minimums and comming out of the clouds just before having to land is one of the most satisfying feeling in aviation. On a side note, I was on the SFB-ORH flight today and there couldnt have been more than 35-40 people on board. Wonderful experience, piss poor load. On the otherhand, the return flight to punta gorda had a packed waiting area.
Matt,
I didn't say the conditions were 'hardly anything'.
The anonymous post claimed that the plane landed with 'zero ceilings', implying that Worcester was capable of supporting a Categoty III Approach.
And I do take offense at your attack on my piloting skills based on your mis-reading of my post.

Take it easy. We are on the same team
