JetBlue Blog
Idea what if we got JetBlue to just fly one flight out of ORH as a stunt/promo and charge $50 more per ticket out of ORH then Boston? How fast do you think it would sell out?

I'd book at least the 12 tickets I just lost on Direct Air. We would have no problem paying an ectra $50 a ticket for a quality carrier such as Jet Blue.
i bet it would sell out, but will be sustained? extra $50 plus the extra on taxes then normal, i think most people would rather go to boston. plus i just dont see massport letting any of its flights go to worcester considering how much they will lose in tolls, logan parking, and logan express buses. unless theres an airline that wants to get in the new england market, most of the legit airlines fly out of boston, providence, manchester, hartford. i dont see those companies adding flights out of orh without charging more cause lets face it, the airline industry is not making much with the high cost of oil and high taxes. alegiant pulled out cause only 80% of the flights were full, where the company average was 90%.

Between gas to Boston (or Providence), parking and tolls if you were to pay an extra $50 each or $100-- I would still be ahead d $50
I thnk we are on to something here!!

i understand all that, im just not sure if people will pay extra for the same thing in boston. i live in milford so im thinking about around here. i do understand for those people who have to travel or want to travel paying the extra to avoid boston is a plus. whenever i go to logan just to drop off or pick up someone, i think you pay $3.50 for the first hour. plus the 2.50 to get in n' out of boston on the pike, 3.60 for tolls and gas. it certainly woulnt hurt to try, i just wonder what inluence massport will have over jetblue. jet blue has the code sharing with cape cod airlines, im sure flights to the cape will be popular, and to san juan too. i would buy a ticket to fly out of orh

You are right in the middle . Maybe for you saving the money and going JetBlue out of Boston or SouthWest out of Providence would be better then paying the extra cash out of ORH..
That is a decision everyone would have to make. For me personally I would pay $50 more each way to fly out of ORH definatley. $75 I would think about but still fly ORH.

i sometimes forget, just like bostonians forget, that people do live past 495, or worcester who would pay the extra to avoid the chaos of boston. i worry that massport has that mentality.
Don't forget about the rest of Massachusetts, Vermont, NH & CT. This was the only way for us to get to MYR direct. The only other route is Spirit @ 5:30am out of Boston. Cost not even considered, the 2 hour commute to get this flight makes it very unappealing. Every time I flew out of ORH (which was frequently), the parking lot was filled with CT plates. There is a whole other part of New England that utilizes this airport becuase Boston is another 1.5 hrs and it's just too far. I would gladly pay an extra $50-$75 a ticket to fly Jet Blue and avoid the Boston traffic and expensive airport parking.
