Best Buy in Mall? Going to Millbury?

1. January 24, 2010, according to Gary Rosen.

2. I've heard the rumor that it's Best Buy... hard to believe, though.

I also meant to mention that I find it an interesting "coincidence" that the slopes along N. Lake Ave have been deemed "unstable" of late.

Do I smell Havana Jim McGovern bucks from Washington to "fix the roadway" and as part of the (environmental?) process we end up with the start of another park that we neither need nor can afford?

A Collapasing Roadway = A Convenient Truth (at the moment)?

It was announced sometime ago that Best Buy would be adding a store at the former Circuit City location at the Shoppes at Blackstone Valley in Millbury.

As soon as the announcement was made I figured they would close their Greendale Mall location. Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) did the same thing when they opened a store in Millbury. This is very bad news for the Greendale Mall which will be left with two vacant anchor stores in an economic climate that has stores retreating not expanding locations.

On another note, City Manager Mike O'Brien gave his strongest hint ever that CitySquare is close to an official groundbreaking date during this morning's chatfest with Jim Polito on WTAG-AM 580.

I may be drinking on you after all Bill.

Hey, who knows...didn't The Foxy Lady want to set up shop at The Palladium at one point in time? They could take over Best Buy's spot, the change in signage wouldn't be too tough... from Best Buy to Best Thigh !!!!

:D

Hey, someone had to bring 'the lowest common denominator' into the conversation!

Sad part is the Greendale Mall is only 20 years old and was signifcantly expanded WHEN TJX Went in there a number of years ago.

From Greendale to Hillbury.

Again just look at all the people living in newly constructed CDC housing units all over Main South and all the discretionary income and spending that they do NOT bring to Worcester and there's your answer.

We're screwed ... it's too late. We got so much low income housing now that we cant fill it.

I
was guessing it was a local retailer and not a chain store. No names mentioned, as it was mere guess and I have been thinking about this local co for 2 years now as pssibly closing up completely. Again like Bill says about City Sq...hope I am wrong.

I wonder what inventory shrink is an urban setting like Greendale mall vs a suburban setting like Hillbury for a store like Best Buy.

Hey maybe an Urban Wear Store will fill best buys place in the greendale mall?

File under ovesized, baggy jeans are great for the old 5 finger discount
