New streetlights?

Lights were approved for this intersection many, many years ago.

I believe last Spring the CC asked CM O'Brien if there was any possibility of trying to get some of the more problematic intersections finally completed. This was one of the high priority intersections due to the amount of pedestrian traffic in the area especially school age children.

The thing I dont like about that light is if you are on May Street coming from Park Ave and are heading up the hill..

During a snow storm if that light backs traffic up and you stop, it is very hard to getting going again.

Bill,

There are many intersections like that in Worcester due to our hilly topography.

Not much can be done about the weather except to try to avoid these intersections during a snowstorm. I've taken longer to get home going around the problematic hilly areas during bad weather but it was better than getting stuck.

An additional push came on this intersection from the parents at Woodland Academy, who petitioned the Council regarding the (as David says) long-awaited light there. Nearly all of those kids walk, and plenty cross May Street to get to school.

Christ almighty there Randell, buy a god dam SUV or take your pick up truck when it's snowing....and You of all people had lotsa similar snow storm experience years ago on S. J. Hill :).

Think about it .........500 ft to the east on May St the city DPW has a Zillion $$$$$$$$$$ to give to Worc Common Grd to fix the self imposed sewerage back up problem that Worc Common grd knowingly created ..............yet the DPW aint got no $$$$$$$$$$ for little kiddies safety.

Then the 3 of you can hop into Bills new 4WD vehicle and take a trip over to Nelson Place School and ask your self why it has been over a decade that the brick facade is falling of Nelson Place School and yet the kiddies are allowed egress to the school under temporary (10 yrs and counting) scaffolding "protection"......FYI scaffolding aint meant for this purpose. Then ask yourself how many unlicensed teachers and admistrators have been paid mucho dinero to perform jobs they aint qualified for...which dinero coulda gone for traffic lights or structural improvements to Nelson Place School.

Then on the way back to May St swing by the Fire Alarm Building opposite Elm park and check out the tree thats growing up through the building.

Then ask yourself why people flee to the 'burbs solely for the sckool systems

Then ask yourself, HTF can the city be all over private property owners for minor non safety, non life threatening conditions like an uncovered, unregistered car parked in the yard.

Anyone else besides me getting sick and ++++ing tired of the double standards for gub'mint?

Gotta run....time for my Ritalin :)

Yikes word verification on a full moon evening:

To again steal anotherh phrase, is it just me or City Councolor Napoleon going gagooootz!

CC'er is So concerned about healthy eating habits and fast food joints, yet wasnt he a bartender years ago at place in the Shrews St area called Harper bazaar? In fact he may not only have been the bartender he may have owned the place and/or the real estate Harpers Bazzar sat on???????

Wonder how many bags of Fritos or sticks of Slim Jims or greasey burgers were used to wash down the 200 calorie glasses of beer served there?

But fear not Burger King, McD's, Applebees, and Papa Pinos and Friedndlys all shut off their lights and left Worcesters Downtown years ago.

And I thot only the 13 years old Jr High school girls were all attention whores?
