Walmart on Route 146

As you know I am 100% sure that Best Buy is moving to Route 146. I am 99.99% sure that they will close Greendale, no move to Lincoln Street.

That leaves me with Walmart in Quinsig Village. I am 100% sure, as everyone else, that there is another major tenant. I am, for now, 90% sure it it Sam's Club. Actually think it is more then 90%, but for now I will say 90%.

A little history lesson ... New England Development (at the time) got a big TIF from the city to redo the Worcester Center into the WOrcester Common Fashion Outlets ... with that TIF money they...

1) upgraded the Auburn Mall
2) upgraded the Greendale Mall
3) built Solomon Pond Mall

They then sold off ALL their malls except one (Worcester Common Outlets) to Simon for big $$$$$. Steve Carp...multi Millionnaire ... city of Worcester...dead mall in the middle of downtown.

If Best Buy does leave Greendale Mall, Simon has a chance to reinvent the mall (once again, my Whole Foods shout from the top of the Mountain) and exorcise the New England Development debacle from a few years back...

Kind of like the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series and lifting the curse of the Billy Goat...

Bill said, "That leaves me with Wal-Mart"

It makes perfect sense to me. It fits our demographics.

Harry, good bit of history there re TIF's and anotehr reason that TIFs should not exist or if they are going to exist teh dev'er gets teh money only after 10 or 15 yrs out.........this upfront money is insanity.......and cities that front millions of $$$$$$ for sports complexes are insane and always come up losers.......plus what taxpayers wouldnt be BS subsidizing professional athlete enterprises when the players are so overpaid........teh taxpayer subsidy in effect allows the team to pay their overpaid cry baby players even more..so they can run inside the Green Monster in the middle of an inning just to take a wizzonater....

Then there's Kraftie the cardboard box heir (by injection) always bangin' his tin cup for either a free bridge recently or back in 1994 a municiapl funded stadium in either Prov, Hartf, or Boston. The only thing missing was the Homeless & Hungry Sign. I will say kudos for him that he does make his tatto'ed employees wear suits when they travel...

i think you all need to get your facts straight before you go around spreading elemetary school rumors.

i know for a fact BEST BUY IS NOT LEAVING THE GREENDALE MALL!!!!! you should really speak to upper management and not listen to these stupid low level employees. best buy just renewed there lease with the mall.

Also let it be known that best buy at the Greendale mall is #1 in sales out of all best buys for the NORTHEAST REGION (not new england region) but the NORTHEAST!! which beats out new york and and other higher end areas.

so just remember before you blog and try to look like mr know it all, that you should really get your facts straight cause other wise you just look like a dumb idiot (i.e. right now)
