1% Percent Arguement

I am so sick of people saying 1%, no big deal. First of all in the case of the meals tax it is really 2%, 1% by the Commonwealth and 1% by the City of Worcester. Lets look at it for what it really is a

40% increase in the meals tax.

This week any bills I get, I am going to take 1% off them and pay them and tell people "whats the big deal, it is only 1%."

You should post the article on todays editorial page about Devals plans. Similarly themed.

I seem to recall one govenor's 1st term when he ran on a pledge of no new taxes.............but anyway my point is that the sales tax originally was 3% and was then upped to 5%...I cant recall the date/time maybe late 60's????o rwas it Dukakis who upped it??.......and the gov''s response when questioned about the no new taxes campiagn pledge was that the increase to 5% from 3% (a 67% increase) was not a new tax.........just an increase in an old tax.

Once again WTH is my property tax cut............Timothy & Deval......????? This is why I never listen to campiagn rhetoric or debates..........or candidate interviews..........and would rather tune my TV to Huckleberry Hound Dawg.......then to listen to these daitribes that all merely a load of Bovine fecal matter.
