Sidewalk Ordinance Question

What happens if you shovel your sidewalk promptly but the ensuing wind gusts blow the light snow back into the sidewalk, are you in violation of the ordinance?

I was wondering the same thing last night as I looked out my window at the high winds moving swirls of snow.

I'm sure the council will say that keeping the sidewalks clear after the snow stops is the owners responsibility regardless of wind or any other natural events.

I was also wondering teh same thing...........but more as Re: plow operators pushing snow onto your walkways after you have cleared them.......that doesnt happen to me usually

I tried to locate the new law on city website..........didnt look all that hard but I couldnt find it

Law says u have clear it of ice & snow w/in 10 hrs of end of storm.......

a. but what else does it say and

b. does it define a sidewalk.........

C. what of those who have the 10 ft city right of way in front of their homes but it's just all grass........is it the sidewalk "AREA" we have to clear to 4 ft wide or it just a paved/concrete area?

I was up at 600am this morning (zero degrees) but forgot to drive by the homes of city bigwigs to see if they were all shoveld out as storm was over at 5-6pm last night....so wakways had to be cleared 4-5 am this morning.

I am hoping Jeff The Taxi will again give us a city wide report re city bigs wigs who ar enot shovled even after 24 hrs as well as those who are not shoveled w/in the 10 hr window.

I see this as great subject for an entire new website......all you need is names, adresses and times/dates and a photo to hang out some these people who legisalte rules that are for the rest of us but not for them........and WTag morning talk guy yesterday morning (12-31) asked Palmieri if he's in the Mayoral race. Gimme a break.

Heh...

Jahn, they had one random chance to shovel their walks before I did my tour.

On a related note, I noticed an ad today for a driver in Shrewsbury... for a sidewalk plower.

The property next to mine is owned by WCG. The last two storms they had two tenants park their cars blocking my driveway and on sidewalks in front of my property. I have left notices on their cars not to block and have talked to WCG for their help. When they move I will be in violation. Actually hope to get one will have fun fighting this!!

I noticed, while shoveling my shop this morning, that a little extra care was taken by plows at the corner of June & Chandler - they flattened out the banking on the corner and widened it as well.

Like to see more of that being done by conscientious plow operators...

Sign man while you're at it.....please tell the WCG Bigwig not to walk around the block inhaling tobacco smoke and then disposing of the butt in the gutter. I have observed more times than I care to recall. Once it was even tossed into the rear of the new building at Bellevue and Pleasant.

Please toss your cig butts on Holden St in the future and pollute the air out there by the Holden line.

Thanx
