UNUM

I think it is great news that UNUM is in discussions with City Square, but that is all they are discussions. Can UNUM be in any better position in their negotiations now? They can virtually ask for the moon, the sun and the stars and they might get it.

You miss my point. Like I said one nundred times, I hope that I am wrong.

To have the a celebration before the deal is done.

We have put UNUM in a very enviable position.

What would all of you do if you were in UNUMs shoes and saw the zillions given by the city to a theater (The Hand It Over Theater) that then turns around and puts the wood right to city by placing their real estats into a non profit holding company strictly to beat the city out of at least somewhere between $500,000 to $750,000. How sweet it is !! If I am UNUM I am looking for a pass on all real est. taxes that UNUM has to pay on the portion of the new biulding that UNUM rents which tax saving will accrue to UNUM in the form of reduced rent. Also a pass on all persoan lperperty taxes on office equipment etc. that UNUM has at teh new site.

Anyone think that maybe UNUM is just in a dog & pony show to give themselves a neat & clean way to break out of Worc w/o rustling any feathers......they come back in 2 months and say hey we couldn't do a deal we're gone..........I tend to doubt it but anything is possible

Today turned out to maybe have been a snow day for school sanyway.....but what hasnt teh school committee got off their collective asses and put definitive plans in place for making up all the lost school days from December?? Today which Is MLK day should have been planned as a make up day. Surrounding towns alreay ahve plans in place. This is almost an emergency situation IMO.....and like the city council the school comm diddles while Rome burns.

Bob Moylan has been a shovelling scofflaw all winter .....nice huh.at least Palmieire shovels 20 feetof his approx 100 ft of sidewalk..anyone else fed up with thsi BS.

Great job on the neighborhood street today ..........1st plow came by at 850 am.....anyone who is SUV-less would have had a hard time getting to work today in Worc.......given teh 5(?)+ new inches of snowfall overnight.........i go out to shrewsbury this monring and the minute I crooss the line the Shrews streets are bare asphalt. No excuse for the condition of neighborhood streets today main arteries almsot as bad.

Dont we have a dept of Neighborhood services?? what do these folks do??

Did Willy's Pizza on Grafton Street bite the bullet? Everytime I drive by there, no lights on.
Poking around on their website, check out the following:

Look at the statement underneath Gourmet Pizza... not good.

Anyone got the goods on this story?

I just the word the snow police were out today in the Clark Neighborhood. I am told a guy in a white city car. I thoought police were the ones to issue monitor thsi .........I was told he jotted down 2 addresses........

I'll tell ya somethign else too......thsi is 110% Clark Universitys doing.......they call up and whine about unshoveld walks in their hood and they get immediate action and only 2 were unshoveled as of 1100am this morning on this particular street.

We got to get WormTown Taxi (WTT) to drive down Millbrook St ......on the right there's a 1/4 mile stretch where 290/190 cross over Millbrook........ lools like it hasnt been cleared recently

It stopped snowing at what time last night?? How can the snow police be out already???

I have yesterday, but had to work today so some of my walks will not be shoveled until later?

Bill I checked one of yout sites.(PL at B) and it was shoveled....maybe 2.5 to 3.0 feet wide....so you re prob OK by the snow police..........i am telling you i am right on top of my shoveling & it's G.D. Impoosible to stay w/in the law when threes ice on the walks and temps are below 25 degrees for days on end like last week.

And I am further thinking once a prop. owner eventaully gets sued by one of Paulies PP for a snow or ice covered slip & fall......and the property owner turns to his ins. carrier....will the carrier say you're not covered b/c it didnt happen on your property?? ... i.e. it happend on city property a.k.a. ....the sidewalk.

This whole thing may just be the proverbial camel getting his nose under the tent. Next the property owner will be held responsilbe for maintenane of the city shade trees in front of their house........then paving the sidewalk when needed......then re- setting the granite curbing when it sinks b/c the city doesnt properly seal in the curbing with pavement when re surfacing tthe street...then clearing out hydrants...then emptying the catch basins of all the crap in them.....and then sweepign the street..... on and on and on.

High time some of these non profits s/b dimed out....for being in violation. They have been alleged to rat on private landlords.
