We're still waiting for the final, official signing by Unum. This is supposed to happen this month, according to this article from the end of April: http://www.telegram.com/article/20090430/NEWS/904300634
I think it was something like "as early as August" that was projected (on this June signing timetable) for them to get started on tearing the mall down.
Jeff is right that the date will be announced when the final agreement with UNUM is signed this month. The actual demolition will most likely begin in late September. I've waited this long for my debt to be paid, I guess I can wait a little longer Bill.
Bill Randell said, "You mean to tell me the final agreement has not been signed yet?”
Bill, no it hasn't. What was announced previously was an agreement in principle between UNUM and Berkeley. Believe me when I say this, Young Park is an astute businessman. No announcement (i.e. the agreement in principle) would not have been announced if it was not a done deal. All that is left is for the lawyers to officially draw up the agreements between all parties and the official signing. That’s when the demolition date will be announced.
Agreement in principle merely means an agreement about laws, assumptions, and /or truths.
Show me the grapple and steel ball onsite.
So how long does it takes the lawyers to draw up this contract?
Answer: As long as Mr Park wants it to take.
Of course then there is the small issue of getting women shoppers downtown to City Sq after it is built and after we have released all the inmates down at Worc's own Gitmo at 701 Main St.
Just crosssed the Common 15 mons ago. One guy proably in his 50's is zonked out, stone cold with his short pants on one of the benches....and its very cool today.........I cant wait until th e balmy days of late June and summer arrive to see how many hobo's were got on the Common either chillin', sleepin, beggin', of tokin' on a joint.
Another bench that was distant from me had a bunch of kids chillin who looked like street urchins
Next bench there is a fellow sitting who had a napsack like duffle bag that has the brand name "Aero Bag" on it. Appears to be an inflatable matress looking for a place to crash..??
Paris Cinema windows are still waxed..........guess that beats them being all steamed up....huh.....????? What's the name of that Head Shoppe In Provincetown....Slap The Monkey.....I think it is??????
BTW what is in store for teh old Bacreoft Motors buildings? A decent amt of their floor space is actaully an old parking garage...thats why they were able have an indoor caah showroom.

I'd be happy to act as Escrow Agent....assuming David Z trusts me to hold Bill's double sawbuck......it was $20 right??
I wont even knock the Fire Dept whilst acting as Davids escrow agent :)
Dave Z:
You mean to tell me the final agreement has not been signed yet?
Jahn, I need a ruling. If the final agreement has not even been signed do I owe Dave Z a beer?
Bill
The judge in a court of law would proably say: "I am from Missouri"
How about we have Wormtown submit a photo of the actual demo to the blog....then you have to cough up the Jahngermeister....
or in the alternate ......you payoff now but if it doesnt come to fruition then David Z has to cough up treble dmamges? a.k.a. as he buys you 3 beeers

That should have read, No announcement (i.e. the agreement in principle) would have been announced if it was not a done deal.
That's what I get for not proof reading before replying. LOL
