I can not recall the last time I drove Main St between Madison St and the PIP shelter area, but didnt the supermarket in the old Mart Building also close up a while back....or am I dreaming? MAybe a couple years ago? Or maybe there where just rumors. I can not recall. Someone help me out here. I used to love the old Mart donut counter (lunch counter, too?) when I was a kid.
whatever happened to the Santiago Brothers on Main..I brokered the sale of their first market at the corner of Wellington and Main as well as the 8 unit brownstone on Wellington to them....remember taking them to a state house meeting where they were to et some money for the rehab...
I don't think they own it anymore...been new owners for awhile I believe..they got a lot of help to get involved in Main South....just wondering if they are still in town...I was involved with em back in late 1989/1990
I seem to recall they got some gubmint money to help opening their store(s).
Another writeoff for the SBA.
Lettuce hope there is no "Home Funds" equivalent for aspiring market entrepenuers...that leave the city on the hook should certain businesses fail......something like "Super Market Funds" or "Ma & Pa Market Funds"
I think they also also have a unit opposite the PB. First floor market and upper floors residential rentals.
