I think Massport should set up tours of the ORH terminal, and allow all of us to see for ourselves what Mr. Barger is seeing.
Hmmmmm... some enterprising restaurant/pub/diner should run a burger special that week ... the Bargar JetBlue Burger ... and get some free publicity for the dining establishment, JetBlue and Mr. Bargar .... just sayin'....
...25% off if you use your American Express jetBlue card, too!
:D

NICK, i AGREE there s/b a much greater marketing effort. Please dont forget that we are dealing with an agency that is a defacto monopoly and monopolies have little or no marketing experience. By that I mean they have no need to market themselves and therefore have no real competitive experience b/c they are monopolies.
As far as designated tours, IMO if people wanted to see/tour the airport wouldnt they go of their own free will like my family did when I was a kid, taking in all the "flight operations" as they say in aviation teminology. For you folks who like Greek food, for you St Jahn's boyz, and for you who are down in S. Chatham that would mean take offs and landings :)
BTW Bill, that reminds me, how are things over in the Village of Piedmont? Not much heard from the VOP of late? Now that Havana Jim is on his annual summer hiatus I thot he might be dropping in....which also reminds my of the bumper sticker i saw at Sea Gull Beach in S Yarmouth last week......."Jim McGovern.comy"...can you imagine the nerve of anyone sporting that bumper sticker in the middle of the summer of an election year... in S Yarmouth of all places........home of the summering (all summer) school teachers who allegedly are so underpaid.......LOL.....I got check and see if that's a real website.
Bill, you may have already mentioned this, but did your invitation for golf get accepted by Mr Barger?
Gud weakend two awl!
$25M for this new landing system. You gotta be kidding me !!!!
Anyone ever stop to ask what the pay back is for Massport?
As a business decision how much incremental income will MP realize from this $25M expenditure? I.e. how much will add'l carriers add the MP bottomline. Even assmuing they only want to make 5% on the investment they would have to add $1.2M to the bottom line to justify it. most businesses would most likely demand a 10% return minimum.
Bill I respectfully ask for a post of todays T&G piece on Union Station and Worc Airport. Tank ewe.
Jahn,
That landing system costed $15 million at Logan and will likely cost less at ORH

I know this is alot of money but this is actually a good investment. We do not need an access road but we do need CAT III landing equipment
We will get our money back on this investement.

Both of you guys !!!!!!!! :)
Nick I swear that Clyde Crash Cup said in Fri's rag that that the landing system was $25M and I already used up that newspaper to clean my windows. Please double check me.
RANDELL......... I am dumbfounded, how can a successful businessman like you make a statement like that :(
NFW in Hell is that system going to have any payback !!!!!! ....at either $25M or $15M cost unless we strat getting commercial carriers who need this system to land a plane every 7 minutes up there and if that ever happened you can rest assured the entire west side would be up in arms long before that number of large commercial jets were landing at ORH.
I know the feds and state will end subsidizing a good portion of this w/MP picking up the rest, but why should the taxpayers have to pay for a benefit that accrues only to MP and those that use ORH and even with the subsidy it's negative payback
Speaking of which...WhoTF decided to put a bicyle path on Water St!!!!!!! I was on H2O Street yesterday for the 1st time in awhile and I am telling ya that street was a tight one way stretch of road long before these tight panted, Spandex'ed, helmutt head bicycle riders ever dreamed up this completley assinine idea. I am telling ya right now....someone is going to get hurt there.............plus all the abutting (no pun) businesses on the street must reaaly love this.....makes the parking even harder to negotiate and did anyone ever realize that it snows here in the winter and that will narrow the street even more or the city will have to clean up the snow plow windrows after each storm to keep the street at MAximum width during the winter.
If I ever owned a packie on Cantaaahberrie St and someone wanted to run one of these bike trails along side my business, I'd more more than up in arms.......I'd be packin' :) (no pun).
Sorry if I stepped on anyones tows, the humidity is gettin to me...
