Pike Entrance Proposal For Route 56 Resurrected

Thanks Tim MacDonald!!! This was in the Telegram yestreday, but I only think it ran in the South Edition.

Please read. How many times and how long have we mentioned this?? We need to get the Worcester delegation behind this. Not only will this benefit ORH, but it will great improve the East-West flow of traffic across the City of Worcester. Many people West of Worcester will opt for this connection to the Mass Pike versus fighting their way across Worcester.

People don't NOT come to Leicester because they can't get off the pike at 56. Its only 5 minutes from the Auburn exit. WalMart is a testament to how well these selectmen handle big business, or get handled by such businesses. Has WalMart done ANYTHING that they were suppossed to do when we agreed to let them in? Who is making sure that they live up to their end of the deal? In the future, when trying to earn points for prior achievements, leave out Hillcrest, it's an insult. We voters all know it was a good ol' boy farce of a deal from day one. The liquor is as diluted and cheap as the management. Where's the athletic fields we were all PROMISED when we voted to buy the land? This town's government is very good at making deals and then running to the hills and pretending accountability means nothing.

Just what the area needs...more traffic...has anyone noticed that route 56 has not been maintained for about 10 years now and looks more and more like the ho chi min trail day by day? Let just say no to funneling more traffic into an already overburdened area. How's the route 20 traffic working for you?

Well. Its not a bad idea, especially if it is built in conjunction with the Airport getting back on its feet. Personally, I think the airport is a lost cause. I think we should be thinking along the lines of a Casino Hotel and Golf Club for that spot and with the new exit and parking garage ideas, this is a win win for all.

did anyone notice how Leicester bought hillcrest CC.....TO ACTUALLY SAVE MONEY... I.E. developing it = 450 new houses = 2 new schools for the town

Thata what worc should do with some of these parcels that these non profits are grabbing up and way over developing with far too many units of housing and little or no parking e.g.

South Worc Neighborhood on Cambridge st

Worc Common Goound just off of May st

Worc Common gound at Main st and Piedmont

This one the reason the city is going broke.....take an old factory site that has no housing and make it into 45 units of housing crampe don a small site...which housing will send probably 75-100 kids into the school system at 7-8000 per kid.....there s no way thsi deevepolment will yield taxes that even come anywhere near covering this cost...............let alone allt he other costs to the city

Wondre if leicester runs that course themselves or farms it out?

Leicester leases out the course.

I guess Leicester and Auburn both know something we dont know as Re: it's better to let a private entity operate the course then a municipal entity...altho Auburn has had bidding issues with their course

Betcha both towns also farm out their rubbish collection.

BTW kudos to O'Brian for fianlly get this formerly patronage laden tax collector system that we used to have farmed out to a private collection firm.

EVEN THE SUBURBS ARE not immune to closings.....though partial closings they may be..................just heard The Manor in W boylston (Old Franklin Manor) will now be closed Tues & wednes ....as well on Mondy which was their usual routine since they opened out there..........maybe 10 yrs ago .thats closed 3 days a week!!!!! ..

And these guys know how to run a restaurant....or so I thought

Ouch.......the recession moves ahead
