March of 2008 was the planned ground breaking when the parcel was awarded for $1. May, 2010 they have not taken title and not one penny of taxes has been paid. I am sorry. The more and more I see the results of our RFP Process (Mason Street being another), I say lets just auction the property to the highest bidder.

Bill, not to mince words with you, we understand what you"re getting at but, it really isnt so much the RFP process (following mandated bidding process) as it the parties who are charged with awarding the bids and overseeing the proper & timely execution of the proposal(s).
BTW, werent we having an audit of that Dept. Where's the ink stained wretches from the T&G on this audit with either a progress report or a final report.
Shaun or Thomas..littel tip here......please find how it is that once title is taken to a property to be dev'ed for low income housing, the only ones the property can be transferred to form that point forawrd is low income owners. So then how did Mason St site manage to wiggle around this bid provision? Another tip..........maybe some answers can be found over on Belleview St.
If the maximum Home funds that can be given to a dev'er per the bid specs are $25,000.............how in Lords name do some dev'er(s)end up getting more than that in Home funds?
do the math of what the city has lost... $50,000.00 from the bid and I would say another $20,000.00 in taxes from the other guy who would have had a building up by now...
What should really be asked here is where did the grease come from to get Pharamsphere in there for a $1.00 bid. It was $1.00, right??
IMO it has somehting to do with Mass & Worc and so called "biotech initiaives", for lack of a better term. Folks, thsi notion that Biotech (or green jobs) is going to be our savior is simply dead wrong. Biotech is not going to be the 2nd coming of Crompton & KNowles, Wyman Gordon, or Amer Steel & Wire.
BTW did anyone read that piece on the proposed razing of Crompton & Knowles. No need to use todays T&G for wrapping the garbage. My God, with that article in it, the paper is already loaded garbage.
