Sometime next week I expect to receive these. Once I do then I will ask whether or not any negotiations are still pending with either of these airlines. If they are I will not put the package on the website, I do not want to jeopardize anything; however, once I am told negotiations are over I will.

So you get them and we don't? I thought you felt the public should know? Why just you?
After thinking about it some, I do not want to jeopadize any negotiations. If it makes you feel better I will not open the package until I get word from the airport admin that the negotiations are over.
Seriously though, I want to airport to suceed and do not want to be blamed for losing an airline. At the same time once, the negotiations you, myself and everyone else has a right to look at the package and find out what the prospective airline had thought.
double standard, Bill. You want the "public" to know. But really, you want you to know and you will keep it secret so not to jepardize negotiations. Dream on...
The more I thought about it, these airline packages really should be part of an airport Executive Session. I will follow the rules of an Executive Session in regards to these packages.
No fight here. I understand Tom's frustration. At the same time I hope everyone reads the Public Open Meeting Laws, in light of Sunshine Week.
Although I complain about how lacking the minutes are, there is a place for business to be done outside the public view. It is called an Executive Session.
It has to be voted on, occur during a public meeting and minutes need to be kept.. Eventually when the cause of the Executive Session has ended, the public gets to see the minutes.
All I am saying is if the Airport is in negotiations with either airline, it should fall under the umbrella of an Executive Session. The problem is the Airport Board has never called an Executive Session so by right they need to release this information to me. At the same time I do not want to compromise any negotiations.
If you think it will disrupt negotiations by making the proposals public why would you ask for them? Why should you just have them and you "will not open the package". Everybody gets them or no one gets them. That's fair.
First of all, I do not even have the packages. Secondly, if the negotiations are over with either of the two airlines in question, I will post them.
How exactly is following the guidelines under the Mass Open Meeting Laws similar to George Orwell's Animal Farm?
The bottom line here is that I want the airport to succeed and not hurt any pending negotiations. If you disagree with my assessment, you can merely send a public records request yourself to the airport.
The point is you are asking for something and you are keeping it secret as well. If you think they should not be released to us, why should you have them? You should either cancel your request or, when you get them release them to everyone. Otherwise you are doing what you say they are doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read the book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trying to remember Animal Farm from my high school days (20 th reunion this year).
If I recall there was leader of the farm, a pig (forgot his name) and there rules that ran the farm (7 or 8). The leaders would break the rules then change the wording of the rules to make it look like they did not break them. At the end I think they just started dropping rules.
First, in light of Sunshine week, I made a public records request.. Second now that I have had a chance to think it over, I want to make sure any airline negotiations are over before I release any information regarding the packages that we presented. The last thing any of us want to do is hurt any pending deals.
Not sure how my initial request or decision now reminds you of Animal Farm. Lastly Tom, if you do not agree with me make a public records request yourself.
Bill, I had always kinda figured you possesssed at least average intelligence.............likely even more..........and when I first statred lurking here your prfile said you were 41 or 42 yrs old................so if you re 20th yr high school re union is coming up..........that means you graduated high school at 22 yrs old :) Yikes ??????.......even I got out at 20 yrs old !!!!!!........I was the only kid at Grafton St Jr high with a car and drivers license........LOLL.....the chicks thought i was COOOOOL
Better correct that math before Zoback gets a hold of it publishes it !!!!!!!!
I am exhausted after yesterday. I do have a reunion this year, but you are right 25 years not 20. In light of Animal Farm, I was trying to rewrite history.
If there are no negotiations pending, this is all a moot point since I will put the information on the blog/web site. Not sure how me not wanting to hurt any pending airline negotiations make me like "those we are united against."
In the end,we all want the same thing-- an airport that can contribute to the vitality of Worcester versus being an economic drain. Tom, if you disagree with me, fine I have no problem with that.
The public does, in fact, have a right to know but there are times when things should be done outside the publice view for the benefit of the public. It is called an Executive Session during a Public Open Meeting.
Once the cause of the underlying Executive Session then the public would be able to review the minutes. Again this whole exercise shows how the Airport Board really should be calling Executive Sessions to discuss Airline and MassPort Negotiations.
The joke about "United" was as in "United Airlines" ....work with me here!! As the late, great Foghorn Leghorn once said " Boy, you need to go out and get yourself a bigger glove, I keep hittin' them and you keep missin' them..."
Can we let this go!!!!! If any of you want to know the airlines we are negotiating with right now soooooooo badly, just do what Bill did and ask for a copy yourself. I understand Bill's situation, the way the airport is going, you don't want to risk doing anything stupid to loose something badly needed.

Sorry. If you have access to them so should everyone else. If you think that way, cancel the request.
Did anyone ever read the book Animal Farm? Theme sounds familiar!!
Tom:
If you feel that strongly, send a letter to the airport and ask for a copy yourself. You are as much entitled, as me or anyone else, to get a copy.
Bill

I have no idea what that means.

I think there is an arguement that airline negotiations could follow under number 6 for Executive Sessions.

I know it gets confusing.
You want your cake and you want to eat it too.

Looks like Bill's gone over to the dark side.
Are you the guy who referenced Animal Farm? I read it as well. Maybe Bill should.
Wrong, Wrong , Wrong!!!
