Albion

Newspaper story the other day detailed how they were not going to renew their rooming house license.  Admittedly I know there are problems there and I do not know all the facts, but I do know that the current owner has no even owned the building a year.   Remember he bought it at a bank foreclosure auction not too long ago.

Guess my point is that I think that putting them on some type of probation or setting a drop dead date to have a list of concerns addressed and corrected or they lose their license may be the better route?     Clee Blair is the type of person we actually want investing into the City of Worcester.

It just seems that there are two sets of rules.  Some people are given years (Mason and Piedmont), while others are given not time.

That story was amazing. If my math is right the city has had either code, WFD, WPD or housing at that address every other day for two years.

Anyone else with a problem property see that kind of attention over a two year period?

The numbers are ridiculous and the owners need to make changes. These new owners have only been here maybe 6 months or at the most 9.

Give them a chance.

If this was the same owner for twenty years, I would support this decision 100%.

Again they should be hard and crack down on the current owners to make changes, but receivorship after owning less then a year.

Seems drastic

Brendan please see my OT post on another thread.

The answer is Yes, the PIP shelter which went on for years.

Overcrowding (with the Code Dept's blessing & knowledge) no problemo' senor.........open drug dealing no problemo senor..... open & gross lewdness no problemo senor....years & years of disturbing the peace in Main/Charlton St area no problemo senor

Hey the authotiries actually delivered the bad actors right to PIP's front door, night after night and then city hall wonders what is causing all the problems in the PIP area. I mean all city hall had to do was just pull a Weiner and look in the god dam mirror for root of the problem

Now a private landlord is villified for the exact same thing. Frankly, the private landlords situation is probably no where near as bad the PIP shelter operators were.

Once again.....another case of different rules in Worcester if you're a non profit.

For 3rd time, fire those who dreamed up the plans & startegies for closing the PIP shelter which plans were 3+ yrs in the making. I mean WTF did everyone think this human debris would end up???.........Westwood Hills , Holden, or Shrewsbury?

I am also surprised to see who owns the Albion. A name associated with a builder of large suburban homes in Rutland and in the Peopels Republic of Holden. Wonder if they only ended up with the place b/c they held a mortgage on it? Any1 know?

As someone once said, Id raterh live next to a frat house b/c frat boys only act 1-2 nights a week and they get up every day and then go about their productice activities....vs.....PIP People who dont

This is the same planning mindset that is now looking for lifeguards for city pools which open in what....2 weeks. Lifeguards shoulda been booked on months. Everyone knew months ago the pools were opening, yet they tell teh T&G a week ago they still need lifeguards for this summer.

Urban planning....????????

>>isnt this the truth....took me two years to clean out the rats at one of my Worcester properties..we have been working hard down in my hood..it takes years to clean the fucking stench from the neighborhood and it still comes back..

Unfortunately, the underlying problem and stern response of the city, is not publicly discussed. The actual operator of the property is a well known slumlord who allows anything at his properties. This person was originally rejected as manager. Blair and company are only the money and figureheads to get approvals. The other properties he runs are subject of many neighborhood meetings as they are magnets for trouble. If Blair is putting money behind a person who was mentored by Alan Seymour, presently in prison, why is he good for the city?

I know Clee and he is a good man. The person who is Alan Seymour's protege -- I do not know nor do I think I want to.

Either way. My point is that City should come down hard on problem properties. Just think that these guys should be placed on probation before revoking their license.

Gee i wonder who they will recommend as the receivor??

Bill,
Look up MNS realty in public records and see at least 20 properties grabbed by them (same people behind Albion). There are mountains of police reports, Board of Health orders, Court orders, etc etc. This guy running them, not Blair, is bad news and doesn't care. They ONLY respond if called out by legal means. Although Blair may have a good reputation where he made his money, his judgement to let a slumlord run his business says otherwise. Speak to anyone in Code enforcement and ask how many resources are used trying to get MNS to shape up. Speak to the neighborhood associations where they own and try not to get your head bitten off. I am not exaggerating.

Finally, the reason they don't get slack is because they were warned, prior to taking title, that this property needed to be run properly and not business as usual. Fell on deaf ears.

Bill, I get a sense this so called receivership may be a de facto taking?

Could Main South CDC be at the top of the list for receivor?

Let's face it, dealing with this PIP demographic is at best dam near impossible.

Who's involved here Sr. or Jr?

Again there were a 1001 ocassions the PIP shoulda been closed up.and the authorities just turn a blind eye.

Aother city business gets Paris Cinema'ed.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, the Platinum Premier gentlemens club on Southbridge St still has their license.............last I knew?

What's that athletic facility I see going in up at the old St V's site?

Now I been in & outta town of late, so I have missed quite few T&G's. Have any names been released in connection with teh tragid accident at Webster Sq 2 weeks ago. I immediately got a sense that names were not released as quick as they usually are.....which always makes me kinda wonder????????

Nice weekend shaping up here :)

More proof of the old adage:

It's not what you know, it's who you know that's important.

WE need to get a media outlet to do an expose' on all the ++++ properties the city owns. Maybe Womag can do it along side the annual trashing they give to the 10 worse privatley held properties.

Anyone ever wonder why city owned properties are not inlcluded in the top 10 list?

Can u imagine if a private Landlord Owned the AUD, the city and CC would be all over the owner and claim that the private landlord is making the gateway to the city look bad.

Dittos for what used to be the Holmes Field swimming facility...the bricks wall are toppled over. Altho fenced in the M.T. swimming pool is an attractive nuisance

Then there's the boarded up Fire aLaRM BUILDING OPPosite beautiful Elm Park. So how did that RFP work out for this site/ building. City musta been alarmed at the low bids and/or the lack of bids.

Drive another 1/2 mile down to pARK & sALISBURY and there's a big sign inviting all the canoers on Salisbury pond. I mean the place is choked up with weeds well in excess of 12 inches.
