New cig ordinance

Two more days until it kicks in....         Business idea.    If you have one of those canteens that sell hot dogs, etc.    Set up right on the Worcester/Auburn line and sell blunt wraps.    Put up a sign last place to buy blunts heading into Worcester and then on the other side first place as you are leaving Worcester.

Being told??   Need to check this.     Take a place like Price Chopper on Cambridge, they can no longer sell cigs because there is a pharmacy inside.    Not only that but the employees can not smoke within 50 of either the front door or property??

Worcester--business friendly??

I wonder how much the city has budgeted for legal expenses defending this lawsuit. (link to telegram article)

Todays T&G (6-22) has a piece about the tabakki industry suing the city re the cig advertising ordinance. My SWAG is that the tabakki industry ultimately prevails. Big Tabakki seems to feel it's an infringement on free speech and/or efeectively baNS all cig adverising b/c of its so called limitations on cig avertising.

So Bill, you must see a few tabakki salesmen on ocassion so I am wondering if they might be saying Big Tabakki will also sue re the blunts ban.

Town of Auburn should issue permits for a few more billboards on Southbridge St near the line. They should fill up quickly with cig ads if the city ord. is upheld.

To those signs you propose re the sale of blunts you might add that in addition to blunts, 2 more signs to the effect that common sense, vendor push carts, and 4" knives have also left Worcester.

Thank God the 11 of them only meet twice in the next 2 months.

Business Friendly???

The City council should do whatever it takes to get a Philadelphia style plan, that fixes valuations, and encourages CAPITAL and GROWTH to properties in the city. That SINGLE step to help ALL properties in the city will results in the best economic growth and jobs for Worcester.

Short of that - all the other stuff, snow shoveling, Arizona immigrants, Chickens, Tobacco Regulations, etc, etc are a JOKE.

Will someone with real leadership who understands business PLEASE RUN FOR OFFICE!!!
