Mr Nemeth started his Sunday article by stating that much regarding the future of ORH has been shrouded in speculation and secrecy. I could not agree more, thus the creation of the blog and website. Question is who is most responsible for the secrecy at ORH?
The rest of the week I am going to take a closer look at this article and pick a part every day to analyze. From the article, "MassPort does not seem to be in a hurry."
They may not be in a hurry, since $800,000 per year in subsidies paid for ORH by MassPort is a drop in the bucket. On the other hand the $1--$1.2 million dollars paid per year by the tax-payers of Worcester, between 32% of the operating and deficit and 100% of the debt service, is huge.
I do blame MassPort for not being in a hurry. In fact we should thank them for the $10 million that they have given us. On the other hand, we need to replace studies and consultants with action and hurry.

It’s been nearly a year since I wrote about the problems that come from
having 11 bosses who are not on the same page about anything, as well as
suggestion...

I was going to analyze that article also.........but frankly I didnt have the time to put my thoughts together in a non-rant fashion and then type it all up.
I dont want to steal all you r thunder but..........
at least twice Mr nemeth references Massport taking TITLE (meaning the deed I guess?)........translation.............buying it?
I think last time I looked the place was assessed for $20 or $30 million? ...

Technically right now ORH is "For Sale". We for the 1002nd time be talking to any and all potential buyers. In fact I believe there is a fiduciary responsibility to the tax-payers.
One time Councilor asked questions about the negotiations with MassPort about one year ago and was pretty much attacked by everyone for asking to discuss sensitive negotiations.
On the other hand, Mr Nemeth (past Airport Chairman and board member) writes a Sunday column about the negotiations revealing pretty much every detail?
January Board Minutes have not been posted as of yet and an airport agenda has never been published for upcoming meetings.
Here's my answer to the mobility study.
Give the people of Worcester and the surrounding area a leisure destination flight as well as a connecting flight to New York, Philadelphia, Chicago with a great price.....and WE"LL find the airport access road or no access road.
We proved it with Allegiant, US Air, Continental etc.
Anonymous:
We can do that but if there is mismanagement on the ground, the airline will leave. Can you say Allegiant.
We need to bring an airport management company to take over the management. Similar to the way we have a management company for the DCU Center or other towns have their municipal golf course managed by someone else.
Put out a 10 or 20 year mgmt contract.
