Cape Air Expands to NY

HYANNIS, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cape Air cut the ribbon today inaugurating their newest routes between Saranac Lake and Plattsburgh, New York and Boston’s Logan International Airport. The new service actually began flying passengers in February and Cape Air President Dan Wolf says the route is already a proven winner.”

Folks here in the Adirondacks are really responding to the service and we are very happy with our first few months here,” says Wolf. “With a flight time of less than an hour and some fares as low as $59, it is cheaper to fly than it is to drive. We are looking forward to a busy summer and fall season.”

“Cape Air is our hometown airline,” said Edward C. Freni, Director of Aviation for the Massachusetts Port Authority, which owns and operates Logan. "We are pleased Cape Air is connecting Boston Logan International Airport with upstate New York.”

By September 2008 Cape Air will add an Albany hub with three new routes between the state capital and the communities of Watertown, Ogdensburg and Watertown. “Thanks to the tremendous support of state and local officials Cape Air is establishing a niche here in New York’s North Country and we are proud to add this beautiful region to our route map

Sadly we have to add 2 more business to the gone list...

1) Robert's Fish & Chips (Lincoln Street across from Memorial hospital)

2) Duffy's , albeit on the Worcester/Leicester line, technically in Leicester.
The local discount business has pretty much officially disappeared: Spag's , the Fair, Duffy's.

There is a catering company in the old Webster Square Skating rink that I heard was closing because of amongst other issues, the cost to install the grease traps. I wonder if this had anything to do with Robert's Fish & Chips.

If Cape Air were approached - I bet they would serisouly consider ORH.

They are flying the routes mentioned because they receive a federal "essential air service" subsidy which Worcester would not qualify for.

However Cape Air has expressed intrest in flying to Gary, IN if the city would guarantee trip costs. No doubt they would come to ORH if we did the same.

Agreed on both the fish & chips and Cape Air points...

Re the grease trap issue..........if you're running an eatery in leased/rented property........and you're a tenant at will or your lease is nearing its expiration........why would a business owner spend 1000's for a grease trap........that they may get only limited future use from.....esp if business is off..........which i have read is often the situation due to the economy.........

W.A.P.A. and Swissport are holding a cookout and auto/aircraft static display in June. Good opportunity Paulie to attend and press the flesh and maybe offer your promotion skills to the airport.

Does your event have a website? ...or a link to some press about it?

I would have no idea how to promote an airport with no airplanes:>)

Someday Maurice Gallagher will write a book ..and perhaps there will be a footnote about ORH and why Allegient left..saw a few jets with Allegient name on them in Gulfport..was a wee bit annoying to think Gulfport still has Allegient and we don't.

Thanks, Paulie ! Unfortunately I have to throw you under the bus; on your website you state:

"Banstable Police Officer Michael Aselton 10Km"

Shouldn't it be "Barnstable" ????

In any event, good luck with the road race...I hope you have great weather for it and raise some serious $$$$$.
