New Airport Director Interview

I tried calling but have been able to catch him so I sent him an e-mail for a blog interview request. Here are my questions so far does anyone else have a question that they want asked?

1) What have been the average loads with Direct Air since inception?
2) If ORH downgraded to General Aviation and concentrated on this, as well as freight, how much would be saved?
3) Why do you think Allegiant left ORH when their loads what were considered excellent?
4) Why will Cape Air not come to ORH with shuttle to Logan with their JetBlue codesharing agreement like they have for Hyannis, P-town, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket?
5) How much money is left from the Small Community Air Service Grant?
6) Are you a City of Worcester or MassPort employee?

Here is another one...as Massport has just signed up Virgin America to do Boston --> California runs, is there any chance of starting a shuttle service with Virgin America from ORH to JFK in new york City? Fly anywhere in the world from ORH type of marketing.

And here are the answers that an airport director cannot give:

2) If ORH downgraded to General Aviation and concentrated on this, as well as freight, how much would be saved?

Nothing, because the pols think downgrading means closing it.

Freight will never work at ORH. If your overnight package is late, you get a full refund, no matter what the reason. Imagine if every flight delayed by weather at ORH issued full refunds.

3) Why do you think Allegiant left ORH when their loads what were considered excellent?

Because they got sucker-punched by Worcester's fuel tax.

4) Why will Cape Air not come to ORH with shuttle to Logan with their JetBlue codesharing agreement like they have for Hyannis, P-town, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket?

Because Worcesterites still have that Spag's mentality. They'll never pay $100 for a flight when they can drive for $89

5) How much money is left from the Small Community Air Service Grant?

Nothing. Direct Air spent it for us.

6) Are you a City of Worcester or MassPort employee?

Massport. I'd never work for these small-town pols.

The new director was on Jordan Levy's show last night Tuesday 1/13/09. Was actually on for a good 15 minutes.
Some good questions asked of him were "Do you think the airport can survive w/out an access road. Answer: Mr davis believed it could.

Question Are you a city or MassPort employee Answer: He is a Massport employee.

I wish I knew we they have a replay of the interview. Actually pretty good IMHO. Sounds like Mr Davis knows his stuff. He used industry terms like over the wing (I assume passengers) vs under the wing (I'm guessing baggage/freight/fuel) revenue generators and expanding commercial aspects of those.
The only downside of the interview IMO was he does sound committed to Commercial airline flights as the main revenue generators for the future.
Best part though as a MassPort employee he did sound receptive to the idea no access road needed.
Keep trying him Bill. Sounds like a good guy who knows his stuff!!

Please give us a list of what ORH "brings to the party" that our competition doesnt? Competition being Bradley, Logan, Manch, and Prov. (& Chicoppee??) and how can we capitalize on these competitve advantages

SwissPort is A-1. Doug Robinson and they team he built is far superior than what real pilots had to put up with the last 30 years!!!
