Bob O'Brien, the Rockford Airport Director, is the one being quoted below. He is constantly in their local paper touting the benefits of a succssful airport in the newspaper to the local economy.

I am in the Rockford area. No question about it. Bob O Brien has done an excellent job in raising the awareness of the regional area to the benefits of a strong airport and air service. But having a strong pro active, business oriented airport authority board is equally important and here in Rockford we are fortunate to have some good people serving as well.
Allegiant Air has done an excellent job so far, with their load factors to both Orlando and Vegas generally in the mid to high 80's percentage range.
United Express started twice daily service to Denver in early March and continues to exceed everyone's expectations despite O Hare being an hour down the road. We are hopefull that additional flights and/or larger aircraft may be on the horizon.
Festival Airlines, the new vacation start up airline, will hopefully announce their initial destination(s) in the next few weeks. No question it is a risk to have a brand new start up come in but the Airport Authority has not been shy about trying some things.
It is known that JetBlue is keeping an eye on things here. Needless to say, we would love to see them come in with some flights to New York and/or Boston (maybe Worcester some day !!!) An airline like AirTran, Spirit, or Midwest would sure look good as well.
We in Rockford still have a ways to go but solid progress is happening. To everyone in Worcester, I would say keep working, keep your heads up, and good things can/will happen if you perservere and sell your product.
Thanks for the comments from Springfield, Illinois.... The excuse that Worcester is in a unique situation being close to a major airport (Boston) simply does not true, when a Rockford outside of Chicago is making progress.
Anonymous, please start a blog on the Rockford airport. I love that airport so much and really wish someone came forth and started a blog to give us more ideas and plans for that airport!
