At this point, I have no idea. You may in fact be 100% correct. All I know is that the airport commission should be meeting in the very least once per month when we are in negotiations with MassPort which will determine the fate of ORH for years to come.
True, its almost as if they don't care at this point. We barely hear anything new about the airport, we don't even know if there are any airlines looking into Worcester. So yeah...
As I follow the City Council meetings -at least last weeks' meeting, they are not involved in the negotiations. I doubt the airport Commission is either. The City Manager seems to be doing them on his own.
Tim, I think council may see the airport as a losing proposition & a potential 3rd rail of Worc politics.
Iraq, stray shopping carts, recounts, a Canal district, nuisance ordinances, infighting/bickering, etc all are easier political issues to deal with and get more ink & notoriety
As I travel the eastern mass area I see more & more road & bridge projects (not 146) that have ground to a halt, stopped & started intermittenly, etc. Scares me to thihk that maybe work is slow or stopped b/c the contractors arent getting paid timely from the Common(non)wealth
